I had a K&N installed, along with the box lid removed, 185 main jet, 5th clip on the needle, and HRC end cap. They dyno'd it and gave me the chart. I was amazed to see the hp was only peaking at 37hp. I thought these were rated at 49hp to the flywheel, which I guessed would be close to 40-43hp at the wheels. The mechanic did mention his dyno was 'stingy' but damn, 37hp? that normal...? He said it was... I need a 2nd opinion :/

That sounds right on the money.

My BONE STOCK 450R pulled 37 hp a couple of weeks ago, but it seems to be a pretty strong stock motor.

Remember, a dyno is a tool. It's purpose is to help you know where your machine is at, and see any gains or losses that are made by tuning, or adding different parts.

So whether that dyno said 37 or 27 doesn't matter, it just helps you to see if any future mods are making more power.

And I know, right now you are saying, "but I want big numbers". Well again, if that dyno said 47 hp, would it make your bike any faster? Nope.

It is nice to tell others that you made XX hp and that is more hp than they have, but that doesn't mean your machine is faster, everything else comes into play, like weight, rider skill, gearing, etc.

You probably already know all of this, but just remember, don't get to wrapped up in the numbers.

kool, thanks for confirming. I'm not wrapped up in getting dyno #'s or anything I just wanted to know if 37hp was normal for a stock 450r because I read they had 49hp, so yeah... I was nervous. The bike feels way strong and runs perfect.

where you get it done at and post the graph. Is this on a 04?

His profile says 05...37hp with hadly anything done to it isn't bad I think stock 04/05s pull around 34ish horsepower.

I had it done at craz-e-dealz in Winchester Bay, OR. I will post the graph/chart up when I get back from lunch. It's at home, gotta snap a pic of it...

It's an 05 TRX450R with a K&N, HRC End Cap, 185mj, 5th clip on needle. Basicaly 'uncorked'

cant wait to get a cam and pipe for this thing. I'm so confused about which cam to get its not even funny. I've heard from 100 different people 100 different answers. The mechanic at the shop there told me he would get the best #'s on the dyno using a stage 2 hotcam. I was told by a local tuner that a regular HRC cam for an 04/05 is better. confusing...

Stock is usually around 32hp. Pulling 37 on his dyno is pretty good for what you have done. Go w/ a HC2.

That is what I'm leaning towards. HC2+Dasa+Dyna CDI and I think I'll be set for power, I'm not looking to make it too fast at the expense of reliability. Suspension is most important to me

Deffiantly on the right track maybe a little higher comp piston.

I only pulled like 45 or so on the same exact dyno machine a few months ago. Mods in my sig. Amir is a great guy to deal with. Get a cam and good full exhaust on your bike and you'll notice a huge difference.

Yeah he is. I was a little erked by his wife telling me before hand they will do the job for 75 and then asking for 105 when my bike was done but what can you do. I would have paid the 105 from the beginning, would have just been nice to get a straight answer up front. I would still go back though. not a real big deal, was miscommunication for the most part

I think you will be happy with the HC2.
Don't waste your money on the CDI though.
You won't need it with a stock head and that cam.

Now that you know...........can you imagine what those 60-70hp bikes feel like?

Did they give you an A/F graph? It seems like you are on the rich side.

Ya Tess can be a pain in the azz when she gets grumpy and I would've brought the price thing up with Amir and I know he would've made sure things where right with you. He put a new plug and stuff in mine and wouldn't let me pay for it.

what jesse said. you dont need a dyna cdi yet. same amount of money will get you a piston.

get yourself a 12:1 to 12.5:1 piston. that will give you what you want and need.
Speedbump
IF your opening it up to put in a new slug and lookin for power go with a true hi comp 14:1. Yes it will require race gas but hey your looking for pwoer and 14:1 will definately birng it.
