Hey everyone, im new here so hello to everyone!!! but i went to go look at a 05 450r yesterday he is askin 1900 for it. One problem, ther was water in the gas from him supposedly not using it for 4 months. so it took a while for it to get going and started(because we changed the gas out)....but finally i got to ride it and it seemed to run fine. But i was wondering if i should take that into consideration that water has gotten into the gas tank. and if i do dicide to get this what should i do to make it run almost perfect!! also, he had a weird noob lookin thing he was twistin he said it was the idel, if someone has a picture of there carb and would like to post it that would be great!! cause i want to see what a stock 2005 carb looks like.

that sounds about right for the carburator but i dont believe the water in the gas part it probably was BAD gas by the way it needs 91 octane

How does water get in the tank from not using it? Did he store it outside with the cap off? I would be concerned about the level of care taken with this bike.

I got water in my old ltr450 because of a nackerd fuel cap, because everytime it was jetwashed it allowed water in the tank. But the water caused me so much trouble i sold it and got a trx450 thumbup.gif

the idle is right behind the choke on the carb. if he was twisting that, its the idle screw. but as far as the gas goes, you probably need to drain the carb and the gas first. then go back and run 91 with some cleaner and see how it runs

The water was probably bad gas from wherever it came from it happens once in a great while. You always want to pick a busy station to get your 91 from because slower stations have a slow rotation time on there higher octane fuels which increses the chance for varnish build up and water contamination.
And for the carb it sounds like a remote fuel scew and those are nice to have.
Change the oils and maybe replace the spark plug and it should run like a top.
