Whats your opinion on the best size rim for mx. Place i will be racing is dirt/mulch. I know that 9x9 has the most options tire choice wise. Also if someone could give me some help on wheel offset for mx that would be nice too.
Thanks
as far as rim size...i have always been told that an 8x8 in the rear provides more sidewall for your tire, which will result in less fatigue on the rider. 8x8 wheels are usually the standard for mx tires anyway... and obviously, a 10x5 in the front. when asking about offset, you need to give a little more info about your quad...are your a arms extended? if they are extended say 2 inches, than running a +3+2 offset in the front wheels may make you TOO wide to race in sanctioned events. If your a arms are extended, or you plan to extend them...you need to buy front wheels that have a +4+1 offset, which should put your front width right at 50" wide... for the rear, if you go with a 8x8 wheel like mentioned above, your offset should be +3+5. i just purchased a set of hipers with the offsets i mentioned above and my maxxis mx tires will be in today...once i get them mounted, i will post some pics so you can decide what you think...
