just wanted to post a line and say i finally got my yfz518 dropped into my quad and running today.
i've been working on it since January when i had hand grenaded my 501 build.
all i can say is WOW! i'm very happy with how hard it pulls. i' have venom port and polish, 100mm venom 14.25:1 piston, and the venom exhaust exhaust wiht the new short header. it's a real monster! tons of power, everywhere. i'll try to get some pics up.

looking forward to trying it out at silver lake this september- can't wait.

special thanks to John and Tress for some awesome quality parts! and for all the very helpful and insightful information that you post. keep it up.

right now it's planned for the 24th-26th. i'd love to meet some folks from the site here. we should be around 12-14 in our group. it's a couples trip that we try to plan every year.

trying to work out the kinks on the bike yet. seems like it's cooking and pushing coolant. probally needs an oversized radiator. i don't have an overflow bottle on it either and thats probally not helping. maybe i'll put it back on to see if it will atleast keep the radiator full. temps haven't been too crazy though, from what my gauge is telling me. except for when it pushes enough coolant out- then i saw it go near 235-240. my gauge may need a new battery too for a more accurate reading. but normally it's been under 200. it's obviously running hot though if it's pushing coolant. so i've got to try something.

power is awesome and not lacking anywhere. it's way too much for the dirt IMO. my hopped up 450 wheelied better cause it would get traction where this thing just spins. can't what to get it hooking up in the sand, where i can really feel it pull.

Dozer-

I know the weekend of Sept. 11th-13th is when a fairly large group of "Venom" quads will be at Silver Lake... me and my KS3 Racing crew, John and Teresa from Venom, and Chris (Sredrum) and his crew are all gonna be there that weekend, as well as others I'm sure. Don't know who all might be there the weekend you have planned though.

As far as your coolant problem, I would definately suggest putting a coolant bottle back on it. Plus, have you had it dyno tuned? Might still be running alittle lean if the temps are high.

Sounds great Dozer...enjoy it!

Venom always helps me put together some seriously potent engines.

Not sure where you live but maybe we can get a peak at how it runs at Silver Lake in a few weeks.

BTW: Kris, you need to update your sig with the newest mammoth raptor setup...

To bad your too sceer'd to bring it up to the drag strip for a taste of sand from my little old 450r rear paddles ;).gif

Cant miss the apple bobbing festival that weekend i guess.....
