Hi im 15yrs old and i have a stock 07trx450r and was wondering if it would do ok in a race with it being stock.please tell me ,and if not what would have to be done? question.gif
Rat-A-Tat Racing
Jetting, pipe, K&N, Green wire mod, Cam, Port Polish, Shocks, setup, there really is a lot that goes in to a race bike no mater what you race. It takes time and skill to get your bike to run with the big boys. Buy hey you can always start at the bottom, just remember everyone that is racing wants to be like you it just mater's how much money your willing to spend. Most all class run stock bore quads but that don't mean a thing. I have a stock bore and I walking on people with bore kit and big mods. It all mater on how you want to race and what kind of money your willing to put down.
Start in the order above and you should get there in time!!

And remember anyone can do anything they put there mind too.

I'm with Rat a Tat on the mods .. I would go with shocks first!!!!

I was 35 when I started racing with my stock 450.

MX TT FT should have classes for people just starting out. You should be ok..

I say go for it and get some experience then start putting some mods on when the money is there.

Good Luck.

You don't need every thing to start with and the lowest classes you can still be competetive with a the free mods and cheap ones. To move up and stay competive you will need more power and much better suspension. I would definatley get a rebuilt suspension.

Exhuast and a cam will make you very competetive in the lower classes.

Very well put, i'M impressed.
Most people who spend daddy's bucks to build a quad for racing expect that since they have bookoo bucks tied up in the suspension and engine that they will be able to go out and walk all over the competition, and after the first race you see a lot of aftermarket parts for sale on the ORG, because they sucked out loud and can't stand it.
My advise is start out simple and build from there, go out and run with what you have and "ENJOY IT" for what it's supposed to be, "FUN". Start by going to the races and setting your personal goals, and not trying to impress anyone (except maybe a girl).

dont forget NERF BARS, and a tether switch...in order to race you have to have both of those. I'm not sure where your from but around here you have to be 16 in order to race. As far as the quad goes, i wouldn't dump a lot of money into it YET. Go out and race, have fun, see if you even really like it and if its for you. If you had fun, which it is, then you can start investing in the quad a little more, a arms, suspension, axle should be your main concern.
good luck and let us kno how you do

Around here a tether switch is mandatory every were. But the type of racing disgnates whether you need nerf bars. Cross country doesn't require nerf bars. I race cross country nerf bars are a great way to hand up a quad in that scenario. I run larger pegs with some stour heal guards.

I agree with these guy, GO HAVE FUN!! No need in spending in serious money into ur quad. Go to the track, meet new people, and gain experience. A good quality set of nerf bars and a good kill switch are a must. U need to be safe so u can go back the next weekend. If ur racing tt, along with a set of good tires, you will need a good swaybar, such as Rath. Don't be afraid to ask questions, if u see somebody working on there set-up, aproach them, explain ur new to the sport and ask if they will explain what there doin and why! When we started out, we ran on borrowed wheels and tires, cheap sway bar and no motor mods. And on small tracts would could compete with the built bikes. A couple of years after that we had $20,000 plus quad, 30 ft. enclosed and we where winning races on the national level. We ALL have started off small. Just remember to HAVE FUN! Quad racers are some of the funnest people to be around i have ever met. Thats one of the things i miss about not being in the sport!! BE SAFE AND GOOD LUCK
