Well this is my first post on 450.org and Im pleased to say Im very impressed with the power of this particular honda. Im very active on other forums and have yet to join this one. I operate a dyno and assemble and race quads. This honda in paricular did so well I decided to join and post the results. Some may know me from ltrhq and several others. Anyways enough about me. Here is this build.

This bike started as
standard bore je 14.1
baldwin ported head
ti valves
dual springs
hotcam stg3
dasa pipe
stock box k@n filter
41mm dirtbike carb
Bike ran good and turned the roller to 48whp 34ftlbs. Good but not good enough for this guy. So I recommended he send his stuff to John to have him work it over. I had recently dynoed an ltr493 that John had done for me that made 58whp 39ftlbs. Ran killer with a small intake cam even. So we sent it off. This is what we got.

Now as it sits
Venom 480 14.25 cp
Venom port and valve work
Venom kibblewhite intake valves
Venom kibblewhite +1 exhaust valves
Dual valve springs
41mm dirt bike carb
hotcam stage 3
dasa pipe (Soon to switch to venom for sound)
stock box with k@n filter

Here are the results. Damn good for only 41mm carb. We are gonna be doing 42.5 carb soon. Ill post those results. Look at the torque curve. Huge. Enjoy

Ps. Thank you John for a SICK motor setup. Runs really hard.

welcome to the site. nice to see a new face with another perspective on dyno operations.

thats a strong build he has there. pretty consistent with most venom 480 builds. great curve and awesome torque.

a bored carb will make a nice difference as well. make sure you post the numbers from the gain.

i would have guessed the baldwin to make a little more than that.

thanks for sharing

Seems baldwin builds are hit or miss. We had everything in the head checked out to and everything was fine. The porting was more of a clean up than anything. I was suprised he would put that kind of work out. Wasnt bad but just didnt make any power. Like I said the motor ran good just not much power. John fixed it up though. LOL

Ill be doing another honda on the dyno next week.

06 with
3mm stroker
14.25 venom piston
norm crume port work
42.5 carb
hotcam stg3

Ill lay those graphs on top of each other. Should be interesting to see the difference.

Mr. Driver311, thanx so much for the dyno feedback... all your tuning info and insight is greatly appreciated....

i personally have dynoed quite a few baldwin equipped machines.... one of them really performed excellently... the one built for baldwin sponsored pro tt rider Daryl Rath..... top notch power & powerband....

except for the sponsored pro, all of the ones i have tested personally... or have been tested by speed shops i deal with... have had similar results to your testing, Mr. Driver..... sad, but not at all uncommon in this industry... the pros who pay nothing for their setups get it all...and the guys who lay down their cash based on pro rider's results...don't get much in return.... gotta protect all their "secrets"

thanx again for the report....

that totaly sucks big time. i know/ race with a guy that takes his motor to mark like most ppl take there quad to the car wash. no bs there. i think mark had his motor 4 or 5 times this year to make it faster. he just got it back this week for another improvement thats top secret. he still got beat buy the other guy tonight.
