Im looking into Xc racing now that i got myself a 450r, and im thinking of going with either hls or motowoz shocks. Im just wondering what everyone else is running, and there experiences with there set ups?

When running the Honda in XC you want +1 LT Leager front A-arms, and Leager or ARSFX rear swingarm and link. With Fox floats in the front this is the BEST XC set-up for the 450 R hands down. As far as shocks go you can get any high quality shock to work....it's just a matter of how long it takes your builder to do so, and how well you are tuned into your bike. This is what Pro's are running then and now. Chris Borich will tell you this same thing from when he was on the Honda, and currently Tom Wright is running this set-up.

Second best A-arms would be ARSFX which are now compatible with the Fox Floats.

I believe Bryan Cook is currently running Houser stuff....but I have had bad experiences with them and my Quad Handled like junk. HOwever he is doing quite well this year, BUT will you get then same parts as he's getting from them?????

im currently running, +.5 laeger long travel arms with fox podium X long travel shocks with 4+1 offset hipers in the front
rear im running a 06 OEM swinger with elka pro dual link and a elka elite full adjust rear shock

my shocks where rebuilt by JH racing and they now work AMAZING

the only problem i have came across with my setup if my rear shock has to much travel lol and i only say that because when i have had to get off and move it i have to pick the rear end up so high to get the tires off the ground and for a short guy like me its a PITA

i run GTT +1 arms and GTT rebuilt shocks all round with their xc link and am v happy with it so much better than stock!!! im just
a rec trail rider but im sure if your racing there are probably much better set ups available.
wouldent mind trying the laeger/fox combo at some stage though!

SMC +1 arms 4+1 hipers, 06 swinger with Elka elites all around and the dual link on the rear.
fomospede
4-1 hipers ,houser +.25 arms without slicast , stock swinger, axis 3way built by axis for me (spot on) gttlink and my own airbox lift .i race district17 Illinois, iowa outlaw series i'm always a threat and win often with this setup. and just so you know there are some problems with those HLS shocks they have not got the bugs out yet they are ok but i would buy something with a long term background IE fox or axis

running 1/4" toe in the main front of my tires where 45" exactly outside to outside

and i run 3/4" camber at 20" so im guessing it puts me right at 45 1/2" on the bottom

your 06+ spindles would work just fine, of course the 04-05 turns better

since the upper arms are adjustable just adjust them to be right

i sold my JD performance +2 arms for 04-05 to a guy with 06+ and they worked just fine

yes there is about 1/2" difference in length for the upper arms in the years, and the lower arms are the same

im like 95% sure it will work fine, but i would still be on the lookout for 04-05 spindles and hubs, since they turn better, alot better lol
vcforlife15
yeah, i have hubs on the way, but no spindels......
