For those of you who dont know, my motor is currently torn down for a rebuild.

I figured i would start a thread so you guys can keep track of what goes down.

First off, this is a 05 Trx450r, that started off as my little stock bike, and progressed into this.

I do all the motor assembly and work myself, but the porting and everything is done by racers edge az, and tuned by Cameron @ Redline Racing.

Here is my last motor, specs were as follows

Stock Stroke Falicon Supercrank
Stockbore 12.25:1 Cp piston
Stock Ignition
Modded ESR intake
Dasa Pipe
43.5mm Racers Edge Bored FCR carb
Rec Head from Racers Edge
+1 Ferrea valves in all four corners
KW spring kit
05 HRC cam

As far as builds go, this was a milder build running 92 octane pump gas with that tiny HRC cam

Next up, will be these specs

Same Crank, Carb, Pipe, Stockbore, Same Springs, valves and igniton.

Changes will be up the CR to about 14:1 via CP piston and decked head
Racers Edge 05 CNC race head
Web 208/921 Billet FBC
And most likely an FCI intake. I will be testing a few intakes, and whatever wins is what i will run.

it will be dynoed on the same dyno as above, and that dyno is know for being low. I also have numbers and graphs off a different dyno, if your interested in them too, but i think those numbers are pretty close.

Any guesses on what it will be. The winner gets a prize! Haha

Do you have any runs in RPMS ?
Kip
Not of that same graph, but i do have some older runs in RPMS.

I will post them up later.

Whats the change from the red line to the blue line?
Kip
HRC/HMF exhaust on the blue, Dasa on the red.

Kip....i have to say something that I have been wanting to say for a while... I really don't like airing dirty laundry over the internet...but here it goes....you seem to be a fairly intelligent young man and I don't want to discourage you by any means....but some of the things you say in your threads lead me to believe that you are asking for a negative response or to create some drama of some sort. When you post things like stating the early (04/05) HRC cam as TINY it suggests that very notion...I mean...come on be realistic...that cam is an awesome cam no matter what you put it up against.
Then there is the matter of the HMF pipe.....Whether the Dasa makes a tad more power or not on the top end when compared to an HRC/HMF setup or not.....have you ever tried a full HMF pipe?If you have you would realize that it is as on par with a Dasa system as a person could ask for.

I have attempted to help you regarding your situation with your current build...only to be completely ignored by you for some reason...and have noticed a pattern with you when it comes to parts/builders...and I always refrain from speaking my mind...mostly because I was young and naive at a time in my life too....and don't want to come off as "one of those guys"...but some of your posts seem to elicit/encourage that type of response.....so I'll indulge you ...this time.( mostly because i am buzzing and speaking in the free'est sense of the word). No offense meant...you just happen to be the one that ended up being the receiving end of my blatant truth serum at this particular time.

Later...till morning. yes.gif trink21.gif

I always appreciate the advice of the older and wiser.

But, i am somewhat confused on your post?

I didnt realize anything in this thread of about 5 posts had anything that provoked any sort of drama or negative response. I reread my posts, and could not find anything that would offend anyone. Please point it out to me.

I love the HRC cam, and do think it is an awesome cam. I never thought otherwise. I guess you never asked my opinion on the cam. Not sure if i stated it was tiny in another thread, but it was never meant to discredit the cam.

On the subject of the pipes, i have never tried an HMF full and have no first hand knowledge of which is better compared to anything. I do however know that on my bike, on that dyno, on that day, with both pipes tuned, mine liked the dasa better. I didnt say anything about this in this thread, once again, you never asked. I simply just pointed out what the two lines were.

If i have completely ignored you, i apologize. I usually read everyones posts, and soak up all the knowledge i can, but i usually do not quote and post to every response. Just because i do not post, does not mean im not reading. For instance your and DRGs good tech posts about engine balancing and such. Some good info in there i have read from you and him and others, but i have never posted.

If there is an issue with past posts, i would prefer a PM so we can keep this thread clean of stuff. It was intended for dyno results and tech info and questions and such.

Thanks

I didn't realize RE was CNC'ing 04-05 heads now. Are they doing both intake and exhaust or just intake? I thought I remember Morgan saying something about being able to do one but not both, I just can't remember if it was intake or exhaust.
Kip
I think its both, but honestly, i am not sure.

They do not make a rec 04-05 CNC head yet, only a full race 04-05 CNC head.

it should be fast congrats kip

Sounds like you have a good build underway kipster... im sure reacers edge is gonna take good care of you. i just got my bike back together thanks to BadinBlack. i wanna put it on the dyno but we will see if time and money permit. good luck on your build bro
ghott
Any progress on this? Been wanting to see what she'll do!
Kip
To date, im waiting on my head. Should be here very soon. Within a week or so im hoping. Depending on other parts.

It will also have Dark Synergy high HP springs, and probably a programmable dyna

My tuner(Cameron @ Redline Racing) now has an A/F meter, so i will be testing these intakes......

Modded ESR
05 FCI
Stock Boot with Racers Edge/Dasa intake setup
Possibly a Ron Woods

I will be updating this as it comes. So far, the bottom end is back together, and im just waiting on the top end parts. Turns out i had a very good rec head, but i still should see some good gain from the parts im adding.

Throw up some guesses, and lets see who is the closest to what it makes

dont do it kip. dont make this a gussing game. keep it a test and report topic.

for the race i think you will want an extended rev limit. hopfully re can hook you up with a custom curve.

my hp is still going up at 9800 rpm so this is the first time im in need of a higher rev limit. your build should be doing the same thing. going from a esr exhaust and hrc cam to a web/dasa jb1 cam and dasa exhaust im up 5 hp @ 9500.

when you get your dyno results, get a tach of some kind and get to the hill do some runs to find a combo that pulls the hill at max hp.

good luck and keep up posted.
fasst
You already made 70hp on pump gas and a tiny cam.... Those graphs seem to be nearly 15hp short but ok. What else could you want? I was pretty impressed this weekend, nearly every person I raced pulled me off to ask what I had done. I told everyone, about my incredible $300 motor. With the money you are putting into that sbss you had better be a celebrity out in the sand.
Kip
70HP? I dont see 70HP? I have graphs on a different dyno that it makes 67/42 on with the HRC/HMF. Probably the same dyno that Pro Circuit uses.

Hey Fasst, i want to publicly ask you to stay out of my threads. Leave it alone, all you do is cause problems in here. Please stay out, or ill talk to the mods.

BTW, thanks for the suggestions HAWK

The guessing thing was kinda a joke lol but i think your right. Build and results only.

Its hard to be a celebrity when your competing with guys that are FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTT
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

Next time you go riding try racing something other than stock 450s and 400ex's.
Guaranteed you didnt run agianst any well known or built 450s. GUARANTEED!!Sorry if the truth hurts. You may have a good running quad but it is far from being able to compete with the high dollar builds by reputable builders.
Go race one of Redlines builds, find Cam or Monty and line up with them. Find Porkchop on his 450. Line up with a Racers Edge build be it RE/Arizona or dasa. You'll soon se what Fast and celebrity is.

lol tiny cam??? his cam isn't tiny you dip crap!, yeah it's not a web 208 or a 292 but thats a pretty dam good cam and alot of people use it.
and 300 dollars is all you have in it???
"CRF head gasket with 14:1 overall compression"
HCII
factory 4 w/black wrap
JE Pro series 13.5:1
K&N
that equals more than with the piston cam alone? then pipe and filter and gasket maybe i just have shity math skills or have been paying too much ??
hawk-trx
hey kip if you want to test my JB1 cam when you are doing all your testing just say the word. i could send it with the carrier and buckets so you could have it pre-shimed for fast change over. as long as i have it back in time for the july race.

Ill give you a call Hawk.

Nah, the 70hp, tiny cam is what kip laid down in another thread. I've asked you to back off my stuff plenty of times, with no respect shown from you kip. Well on my trip I raced every single bike that would line up. I was out with the 100+hp banshees evn just to get the practice and see how close I could push to them. I ran alongside a +6 yfz with 8mm stroker, cams, carb bore, LRD exhaust, fci intake. A +4 yfz with $3000 in the motor. The biggest challenge I came across was the owner of RoosterBuilt. 06 450R with, We were neck and neck every run, I could smell the most wicked race fuel for sure. He said it only had a Dasa and HCII, then I quizzed him on the FCI I could see under the seat "oh ya, I have that" then I said I wanted my carb bored "oh ya that helped a lot" , I asked why hes running race fuel on a stock piston he said "It's U4, I gained about 1hp on the dyno with that alone" Why would someone spend $10 per gallon for 1hp if all they supposedly had was a cam and exhaust? who knows what else he was hiding.... What I like is that I have a crappy exhaust, $300 into my motor and I keep up with or beat everything I have ever lined up against. If these big engine builders smoke me by as much as you all seem to think they will looks like I have some money to start saving. I like to go fasst, as fasst as possible, I'm just not going to spend thousands "I don't have lol" if I don't have to. Good luck Kip, I hope your satisfied with your HUGE gains from all that money you just spent =]

good luck with the build!!!!

Hey Kip, this is Fassts dad. I was reading your build and it looked like you are running stock stroke with it. Also looks like you are running a 12.25:1 piston. When we went down to Florence this weekend my 05 started showing signs of aluminum in the oil filter so I parked it. Thought about it and I think it is probably crank problems. So when I started thinking about what it would take to beat my kid I thought about leaving the bore and stroking it and letting him port my head. I just wanted to pick your brain on why you aren't stroking yours when you put the new crank in? Is it that you are going to stay with pump gas?

Do we have to keep hearing how bad a$$ this guy is every time he get's online? We all know his kind and how little they always bring when it comes down to crunch time. We're all proud of your $300 build and how fasst it is and I'm sure it's tha bomb, but I'm getting pretty tired of hearing the BS. Could someone please ban this guy? _specialED.gif
blackdrag450r
it didn't hurt, i was merely suggesting.
the main reason that i am doing a sb/ss build is becasue now adays you can get to 60+hp on one and its a hell of alot cheaper that way rather than buying a 1000 dollar cylinder and expensive crank, not to mention extra monet for extra machining...
but keep in mind the only way you can get 60+ from a sb/ss is to match components and give someone the head that knows what the hell their doing... thumbsup.gif

Simple or not your kid has a bad rap around here. If you are his dad your seem to be the opposite from your kid. just open a account and lets have some good conversations about our bikes. To be Honest most of us would rather not have your kid post in our topics.Lets hope one day your son opens his eyes to how his father acts. This is all IMO.

Fassts dad,

Good question.

I am going with higher compression now. It will be close to 15:1

The reason im staying stock stroke, is because of money. Like everyone else, i am on a budget.

Plus, i like being the underdog, the one racing against bigger bikes, and trying to impress with my 450.

If i had the money,it would be a bigbore/stroker.

Im not sure what it would take to beat your son, but give some good builders a call, and im sure they could get you a few bike lengths around him. Racers Edge Az would hook you up if your looking for anything from mild to wild, but if you want to stay SB/SS im sure you could make plenty of power!

Not to mention its more reliable to stay with stock displacement
fasst
Thanks for your answer. I didn't realize I'd be sacrificing much with the stroke and I thought if I had to by a crank that hot rods wouldn't be that much different in price than a stocker.
Speedbump
Hot Rods cranks are junk in alot of peoles opinion. Especially those who have had them fail.

An OEM crank redoen by Crankworks is where it is for a stroker setup IMO.

If your not stroking your crank keep it stock.

Yes he has a mouth, but he is my son. I've known him for 19 years, you guys have read his stuff for about a year. I would feel a bit on the defensive also if I were you. In person he isn't as trashy, and is actually fairly respectful. Yes he's pretty brave behind a keyboard as well as alot of others. I have also read plenty of the things that have been said by a few others on this site. Personally I normally would feel that alot of the remarks are offensive but, I'm going to chalk it up as trash talking and shake it off. Unfortunetely not every person can see it in that light. Oddfellows is a great park, only thing I can see as being a downfall is the fact that you can't have a camp fire. Well, two things-you have to have quiet time after 10:00 p.m. Great location, great amenities, good people. Remember we are all pro honda and that is where it's at. Unfortunely we all think we have the fastest bike but we all know there can only be one fastest bike, hence I came up with Fasst not Fastest!
