My buddy ran his 300ex low on oil and it started knocking real good. Well i took it apart and everything looks ok except his rockers. They are shot. Well the shafts that hold the rockers to the head are held in place with dowel pins. Does anybody have a good idea on how to remove these dowel pins? I can not seem to get these things to budge. Any advice is much apreciated.

I am doing the same thing and ran into the same problem. I have a service manual and it says you need to file the dowels and remove them with a dowel removal tool along with a sliding shaft and weight. I was able to remove one with a vise grip and a lot of pulling. I tired the second one with no luck. Does anyone know a good place where I can get replacement dowels?

Here is part numbers:
Dowel pin remover set - 07936-MA70000
Sliding Shaft - 07936-MA70100
Sliding weight 07936-3710200

Good Luck,
Shawn

Well i ended up giving the valve cover to my friend and told him to take it to a machine shop and have them do it. I just got back the cover today and getting ready to slap it all back togeather. I guess with the right tools on hand it would be much easier to get those dowel pins out.
