i just bought an 2003 kfx 80 for my boy. it starts and runs great, except i can not get it to idle for crap. as long as the choke is out it will sit and idle. but when were out riding and he lets off the gas to go down a hill it will die and has to choke it, start it and then turn the choke off and go. it makes it hard to ride...
i have cleaned the carb twice now, but it just doesn't seem to be dirty, nor has it helped with it running any better. i have adjust the idle screw, but it doesn't help any either..
i just bought the automatic oiler delete so i can mix my own gas, it does seem to be running a little rich so i am hoping this helps some.

any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

You need to take off the oil injection and run premix, These are jetted really fat from zuki. I ran my sons at 30:1 and it ran great with a pipe and a/f no more bog or idle problems. If you need anything let me know i have all sorts of cheap do it yourself mods for these bike i got from a LT80 guru.

right on, i should have my auto oil delete int he next few days. i will gladly take any little hint and tricks you have to offer. Right now it is completely stock. I ordered some wheel spacers for the rear, it is so tipsy.

can you explain the reeds to me, this is all new to me so i may have many questions for you...

Ran into this exact problem with my daughters 05 80 and cleaned the carb just like you with no luck. Decided to pull out the pilot jet and check it out closely and bingo that was the problem. I ended up just buying a new one for about 2 bucks from a dealer and that solved the idling problem.

I have a 1999 LT80 I just bought for my son. It won't idle as well. Apparently they have no idle mixture screw. I plan to put a pipe and other modifications on the quad. What suggestions do you have to improve it?
Thanks!
