I've been riding and racing out here on oahu for the past 6 years. and to say the least kahuku mx park is the worst riding area i've ever had the pleasure to ride at. yes they have a fantastic mx track, but thats it! The HMA here on Oahu has there heads so far up there a$$ it isn't even funny. If you have an ATV they will not even let you on the large mx track unless you race, and guess what out of all the islands Oahu has not enough quads entering the races to compete. I wonder why?? The HMA and course marshall at kahuku are against the sight of atv's. Over the past years i've been told that the reason atv's aren't allowed on the track are because we make too much dust, we tear up the track and were dangerous riders. I was told those exact words this weekend and for the past 6 years.
Here on Oahu I completed almost the entire 07 race season in the quad class, and then was deployed to Iraq. Upon returning last month I couldn't wait to get back and ride. But not on the mx track!! The course marshalls said, I didn't race and I don't support the HMA. Even though I had raced in the past I'm still not allowed on the track.
The course marshalls and HMA continue to tell all the quad riders to ride on the designated quad track. Thats a joke. Anyone who has seen that track knows that it is a beginers track. There are no jumps, it has steep bowl turns and its a single lane wide, and takes less than a minute to ge around. That track has not been touched with a dozer in over a year. Heck that practice mx track hasn't been groomed in over a year!!
I am so upset with the way that place is ran. I am urging all atv riders and racers to speak up at kahuku mx park. Lets get the quad track fixed and the practice mx track. Lets get more entries on race weekened, heck lets get a kids class too. That is the only way I believe that they will let us have a quads only practice time on the large mx track. The HMA and marshalls need to hear us and get rid of this stero type they have put on all of us. Because I don't think its us that are crashing every weekend, and pulling wheelies down the road up at kahuku. Thanks for listening.
