Went to my first grand prix at 29 Palms on Saturday. I drove 170 miles, paid 15 dollars st the gate, 48 dollars race entry, 25 dollars for transponder, already got AMA and D37 membership at last Enduro race, and I raced my a$$ off to a second place finish. NO TROPHY for 2nd!!!!!!
What a scam!!! lets see MR HILLTOPPER JERKFACES, 60 quads at 48 dollars race and 15 dollars gate.I believe thats about 3980.00 dollars!!!! WHY NOT TROPHIES FOR 1,2,3 EVERY CLASS?!!!!! OR 1AND 2!!
I had fun and the track was awsome but, 63 bucks with no payout and only a small handful of trophies.???? I say absorbing greedy scumbags! I wish somebody else would promote cool races besides these old crappy D37 retard clubs.
I hope all the BIG 6 race promoters choke on the steak and rib dinners they buy with my money and die next to thier double wide paradise!
What do you guys think?
Good post. I think more people who get ripped off should post on here and any other forum to get the word out. I don't care if it's competing on a national level or some outlaw circuit in B.F.E.
Yeah , I was venting right after the race. I read what I wrote now, and it sounds a bit silly and harsh. I used to race stock cars local and was paid 25 dollars for last place........ I just stand behind the trophy for 2nd place and a little ego payout for the hard effort it takes. Maybe they could have a cheap plywood podium with a trophy presentation and Grumpy Photos could sell you pictures.? I'm sure a couple 2nd place trophies cost about six dollars each and they could do a computer printout for 3rd. This would make the whole experience complete and maybe more people would show up anyway. It just doesnt seem like rocket science to me .
The first excuse laid out when the complaints start coming is the "INSURANCE" --- when in actuality the insurance has become so expensive that most don't even have it anymore hense the liability and endimnity waiver for competitors and LLC status for the facilities, and the general expenses follow that.
I agree that fuel costs over the past few years have taken a major toll on race tracks nationwide, but at the same time these tracks all have areas where they could become a little more effecient to compensate.
My son and I went to an event in March of this year that had taken in almost $9000.00 between spectators and competitors and they too only provided a trophy for 1st place in each class and a 75 percent payback for the Open Pro class. By the time the second event was finished they may have taken in $1500.00 if they were lucky.
Unfortunately, the race tracks that are honest and try to do right for the competitors also suffer when these greedy outfits take advantage, and we all suffer in return, so when you voice your opinions and results of the bad experiences, word it carefully, and promote the tracks and associations that do put on an honest and fair event.
