Hi, I have an FCR carb from a YFZ that has been bored to 43.5 that I will be putting on my trx. I have decided to go with the rat stack from venom performance, based on all the good things I hear about it.

My question is will I need to get the rat stack bored to the same size as the carb?

Also, I am going to be using a velocity intake set up with this. The rat stack is just epoxied to the carb, right?

yes ,you most definitely will have to. did mine with a die grinder and got a great fit
and yes it held on with JB weld.

are you putting this on an 04-05 quad??? if so, you can put a venom rat stack on the carb to give it the proper taper to the throat.

but.......

you will need to use an 06 up style intake. not sure what intake your running, but the stock box or any 04-05 after market intake will not reach.

was'nt sure what year you had. just some info in case.

it is going on an 06... and using a velocity intake with it, no airbox.

cataway, so I should be fine just opening it up a little by myself with just a dremel type tool? if so, that saves me money from paying to have someone else do it.

ya what i used was a small Flap Wheel that dremal offers ,the grit i used was a 80 as that was all the store
had ,but i do know that dremal offers more than that .
most of the fit that needs to be done is where the holes are in te bell ,take your time ,sand it till its about the same all the way around on the inside of the bell .
the Flap Wheel also works great at getting the ridge off the carb so that the RAT will silp on.

sorry scrapper450r but you may not know what your talking about ,the 06 boot will not fit to that carb with a RAT ,it will fit with out the RAT ,yep been there done that

as it said...... was'nt sure what year it was. just giving some info.

it would have been a safe assumption to say it was an 04-05 quad. since you dont see many guys with 06 up quads buying yfz carbs to install.

anyway....... i used the FCI ring with my 43 mm carb. it was close enough to the size of the carb that i just marked the high spots with a marker and used a fine file to file it down. blended in perfectly. so having it bored to size isn't a must. with a little work, it will work nicely.

I have a 42mm YFZ bored carb with a ratstack to match using a 06+ fci intake works fine. The yfz carbs seem to be a tight fit tho.
