Well with all the new 06+ builds popping up in here, I thought I would add mine. Its now a 488 and Im pretty happy with the results. I think its appropriately named as well...

Some of you might remember my first build of this 07 Honda around Thanksgiving time: This is RE Gen. 1 CNC head, 208, +1 Exh., DASA pipe, DASA intake, 42.5 FCR on pump gas.

It made 56.8 HP/35.5 TQ and was a blast to ride. Run #5314.

Before the Glamis FSA race I made it a 488 but literally did the tear down, assembly AND Dyno Tune in 45 mintues the day we were leaving. The only thing that changed was going to a 100mm bore in a 12:1 configuration. Same everything, even the pump gas.

It made 57.94 HP/37.5 TQ and was still fun to ride. Run #5514.

Now, its a "touched up" Gen.1 RE CNC head, 13.5:1 100mm, same 208, same +1 Exhaust valves, same DASA pipe, FCI intake, 43.5 FCR, MRX01. No decking was done to the head.

It makes 67.19 HP and right at 39.1 for TQ, and HELLO over-rev thumbup.gif Run #5956.

And now, not so fun to ride post-696-1105671076.gif

that is definetly some good gains! but i hade some questions, and i hope you dont take them the wrong way, but just explain it a bit. what is djwh on the dyno graph? i read somewhere on here that when a graph has this it is not true horspower? all i know about a dyno is SAE and STD. so with yours being SAE its pushing 70 in STD? thats insane! and the fuel you tried, how much better is this than u4? i dont want you to think im mouthing your build but i just want to understand things a little better, or clearer. thanks

Now the questions is how long the tranny will hold with that much power

My next concern. I think with the Gliders, and doing a 2-3 shift it wont load the tranny super hard. That and oil changes every ride like I always do will help. Guess time will tell.

Ya i have yet to loose a tranny on any of 3 06+ bikes but i always use the clutch and change my oil after everyride. But there are just little stock bore's not a tq monster like yours

Wow ooh4.gif ...an increase of almost 10 hp from a machine that is already at dang near 60hp from a 1.5 bump in compression,touched up head,FCI intake and a better fuel is remarkable. yes.gif

Nice build! don't go too big on the swinger or you lose some of that sleeper effect......If that's what you're going for. scooter.gif

Of course it's not a sleeper after he half hills someone........If he calls it the sleeper and is in fact trying to keep it a sleeper it won't be much of a sleeper with a giant swinger. At least he can utilize the sleeper effect on initial races with poor unfortunate unsuspecting victims............

Its not a Gen.2 head. There are still changes that would need to be made to be a Gen.2 and my carb size does not warrant the changes.

i have seen yours and hoops with the extra hand done work. seems like it does the trick.

how does a guy get his hands on it??? just ask when you get the work done??? would it cost a regular joe more $$$'s to get that done in addition to the cnc work???

No I do not, I quit last Friday. Differences of opinion, money, time to move on. I moved to a job outside the industry (and boy is it nice).

It just amazes me that everyone thinks they are entitled to the best RE has to offer the very FIRST time they ever buy something from RE.

You know I have more and more respect for John everyday. Everytime a customer comes back he gives them a little more, and a little more. I cant how many times threats were made against RE if they didnt turn loose of there best work. So, in essence I guess everyone should get the best heads even though they have the worst parts known.

Dont take this personal, becuase Im just speaking outloud.

I hear ya...but come on you have worked at a shop long enough to know that pleasing customers and having the edge is a fine line that nobody likes to walk.Put it this way...be thankful there are so many that want the kind of performance that they know you are capable of...it's the best compliment an engine builder can get. yes.gif

i would'nt expect nothing for free. whatever comes with a basic port is good. but if i know there is more to be had..... i want it. and if its what i want, the price isnt a factor.

if i had an expectation and was willing to pay, being a first time customer should'nt matter. thats how i look at it anyway.

im just gonna take my junk parts and go home. lol seriously, dont take it personal either. im just joking with you and being a smart ass.

hey guys i will never understand a shop that dont want to give you what u pay for. i have posted my dyno sheet on this site and have almost the same power as this motor and it was my first build with DASA. i hear alot of bashing on this site about DASA but i have had no prob with motor. just my 2cent.

Racers Edge az treated me and my dad good when we came down to get more power. we picked up a dasa pipe, and got a little more done. i just dont know how you got the same power out of youre 488 that we got on our 511. I WANT MORE POWER guess ill call john and brett and see what else we can do to this trx.

On what dyno, the DASA dyno? I know for a fact that the 2 dynos are 5HP apart. So your motor is a 500? On MR9 that would make 59 on the RE dyno and probably about 57 on 110.

Better fuel, better cam. Your motor made more TQ (42ish) but you have more stroke as well.

Call Bret, Im sure he will be glad to help you guys out.

hey cant talk about who dyno does this and who dyno does that, but i dont got a 500. i have a 2006 with a 100mm 12.5 piston, with a stock crank, and my motor did 64 hp on c12 vp racing fuel also but it took 500 more rpm to get to 64hp and lost 2 lbs on the tq. also i dont have that 208 cam that you guys are runing my motor was built back in 2007. i know there is a shop dyno war on this site thats cool i love it. but if i pay for somthing and you give me almost all of what im paying for then thats not cool thats all im sayin. glad your getn what your paying for feels good dont it?

Here are the dynos on the two dif fuels. The old one is mr-9 fuel. As you can see the mr-9 fuel made a big dif. I later started using mr-11 fuel. now just c-12 it's half the price can stay in the tank longer and does a good job. Also i dont have a FCI intake stock 2006 and no CDI also stock 2006.

So morgan what is the new business your in?

I deal with DASA because there not far from L.A. if racers edgeAZ was closer i would have gone there just pure luck. I see alot of DASA bashing on this site WHY? not sure of the reason why, is it to get people to spend money somwhere other than DASA? I never saw DAN on this site with another shops motor, and dyno sheet showing all of us how fake another shop is after he dynoed there motor on his dyno has he? i looked all over this site trying to find him saying anything out of line about any shop and all he does is give out good info, or he dont say anything at all. I have a motor package that works, it kicks butt and i can ride it all day long in the dunes, or trail. So you say i really have 60HP not 64HP thats just talk but ok i can live with that as long as 90 percent of the time when im in the dunes im the fastest 4banger out there im cool with that.
