We went to Little Sahara, OK this weekend and being a little leary of riding the quad much until the air/fuel mixture was verified, I put my 06 on the dyno saturday afternoon.
It's not much by way of mods, venom 14:1 piston, stage II hotcam, fuel customs intake, and HRC exhaust. Bore, stroke, head, and carb are stock
Initital run was made with a 180 main, 48 pilot, 2.5 out on screw, middle clip of HRC needle. This run made 49 hp and 33.6ft/lbs torque.
The second run was 172 main jet, 48 pilot, 2.5 out on fuel screw, and middle of HRC needle. This run made 49.9hp and 33.9ft/lbs torque.
The first run was a bit rich on the main jet, second run was a bit lean on the main jet, so we put a 178 in it for safety-sake and called it good. All in all i'm really happy with how this little motor runs and how even the power delivery is on it. It was really a blast on the tighter trails that twist through little sahara. It is definitely time for the stock suspension to come off of this quad.
I'm trying to scan the print out of the graph as I type this, but for some reason the scanner isn't cooperating, so I'll try to figure out what's up there so I can post up the graph.
Just figured I'd share incase someone else is on a similar setup.
Anyhow, thanks to DynoMike at LS Powersports for the help, it was nice to meet you man!

good numbers, thats a solid reliable build. i have almost the same build but only running a 165 main, i guess i could be running lean..

those are nice numbers for just having a piston, cam, and intake. other than the hrc stuff.
50 horse is a strong quad, and the best part is you have'nt spent alot of cash to get there.

thanks guys,
It is indeed a fun quad now, and there certainly isn't a lot of money tied up in it. Hopefully it has a good, long life. :)
On the jetting the main thing I have different than most is the Fuel Customs intake. Possibly it trades off some velocity for increased volume?
Either way, between the added compression from stock, and the Fuel Customs intake i'm really enjoying the bottom end power that the quad has now. It's not a drag quad by any stretch of the imagination, but it was fun in the sand and should do great on the trails too.
Now I just have to decide which way to go on the suspension as the suspension was the limiting factor (other than the rider anyway) at the dunes this past weekend.
i'll eventually get the graph scanned and posted so we can look more into the jetting differences and such.

Very nice! i was told that adding the HRC kit to a 06 would put out numbers very close to 50hp, i guess not though

your bike is an 04-05 right?

mine is an 06...I've seen some HRC bikes that dyno'd 48hp with just the hrc kit on them, but i'm sure it depends on where you have them dyno'd. I do know that after we were done with the dyno runs and were unstrapping the quad, the man running the dyno said that was a strong run for no more than the motor has done to it.
I forgot to ask him what a stocker 06 makes on his dyno. Maybe if he reads this thread he'll let us know.

I agree, I had a good time talking to Mike and dynoing my quad. Definitely money well spent.

I had my 07 dynoed twice once with hrc kit and a cheap rocky mountain atv accelerator pump cover that time it made 46 hp. Then that same day you had yours dynoed it made 46 hp again this time same stuff but with a fmf factory 4 pipe with the megabomb. The curve was alot smoother but after Talking to Mike down there I think I'm going to pull that off and put the hrc header back on with a nice slip on (tired of burning my leg on the megabomb part). What color was your bike I probably watch it as I was camping right next to the dyno

mine R is black, i dyno'd it about 4:30 that friday....right after a dude with a stretched banshee.
I'm still planning to post the graph if I can ever get 10 minute of free time while i'm at the house.
I'm thinking about adding a slip on to my hrc pipe as well. But it'll take me a month to make up my mind on which one...lol

i've had 06, 07, and 08 trx450Rs... I ran a 162 main in the first 2 bikes and a 165 in the 08. they were mx bikes with jh racing heads, JE pistons, milled, cammed, sparks pipes and filters, all that stuff. I ran them all on 110 octane pro-lox oxygenated fuel. each bike dyno'd extremely close to perfect on the af ratio.... just thought i'd share. i live 200 miles east of little sahara OK and rode all 3 bikes there with good performance.
