I usually run only safety wire, have done it for years on 2hr XC races and all three 12hr events I've completed without any trouble - grips never move.
I am very particular about how I safety wire them and take some time doing it - well worth it in the end.

I use Pro Taper grips and safety wire, no glue and they don't move. I shoot a little brake cleaner inside the grips to help them slide on. I use 4 or 5 pieces of wire per grip spaced out evenly. If you do it right and push the twisted "tail" down into the grip you can't feel it at all.

Brakleen works real well. It sort of melts the grips to the handlebars. I go ahead and put grip wire on and they don't go anywhere. 2 hr. XC races and they are fine at the end.

I have tried pro taper grip glue and it lasted MAYBE a few hours of riding before I could feel them twisting. Maybe I installed it wrong or something??? I put a small layer of it on the bars covering the whole grip area and took a small amount on my finger and spread it around the entire inside of the grip.
After hearing on here about someone using clear coat spray paint, I tried it and will never go back to anything else. Don't even spray the bars. Spray about 1 full second around the inside of the grip and twist it about 360 degrees. Literally 60 seconds later I can not even move the grip at all. Held up on my old set of OURYs for many many hours. Did the same on my trail tech bars and new Oury's and they feel extremely solid. Granted I only have about 4 hours or so on the whole new set up but I will bet that they don't move for the entire life of the grips.
And the ONLY way I could get my old grips off the bars was by cutting them with a utility knife. Which is no big deal considering the price of the Oury's. $8 average for a full set and I will never try any other combination.
Maybe it is the compound of the Oury's that makes them work so well with the clear coat spray paint? Who knows...

I do the same, a little brake cleaner then safety wire in three spots on each grip. Once in a while the throttle side may twist a little, but not much.

This is straight from Honda's Baja team. Wrap black friction tape(the sticky kind) around the bars. Overlap half the width of the tape. Soak it with brakekleen and slide the grips on. I let it dry overnite and then safety wire it. It makes the grips thicker and more shock resistant too. I've been doing it this way for years and NEVER had a grip move. You can even remove the grips without ruining them if you have to. I love it.

i use contact cleaner and a hair dryer. my renthal grips fit super tight so the cleaner kinda helps them to slip on. then a hit them with the hair dryer and it's go time.

Old school baby.......gas, yep that's right, the same stuff you poor into the tank. Put a small amount in the grip and swirl it around and slide on and let dry. My Grandpa showed me this trick when I was a young man, and it has worked for me ever since.
He also showed me the coin in the end of the grip trick, seeing how I was young, and tended to lay bikes down a lot and blow out the end of the grips.

When you wrap the tape, just overlap it onto itself about a 1/4 inch, basically half the width of the tape.

No wires or anything. Just coat the inside of the grip all the way around and twist it on. Get it set in the position you want and let it sit for a minute or so. Make sure you put the grips on the right side. There is a left and a right and if it matters to you, you dont want to have the OURY letters upside down. I'm picky like that.
Let us know how it goes.

Super Glue.
Squirt it into the grip, roll the grip between your hands to make sure the inside of the grip is thoroughly coated and then QUICKLY push the grip onto the bars while rotating it. I have tried different methods but for me and my Tag grips, this works the best.

X2 ODIs rule, 2 allen screws each. takes like 30 seconds to take em off. I've only had my ODIs loosen on me twice. first time was during a WORCS race casing a big double. second time was my fault, i didn't tighten the allens enough on my new pair.

I todally agree that the ODI's are by far the best grips out there. They are super easy to install and are ultra soft and wear great. I use them on my quad and my mountain bike. wouldnt ride anything but them.
