Been riding A Kodiak 450 for years so I decided to buy a 450R and try a Harescramble. Mid Life Crisis and All.

Dealer sold me a pair of Alpinestar 7s as part of the package.

Good reviews and look cool.

One problem, I can't shift higher than 2nd gear with the things on. I tried the side of my foot and then just jammin it under neath further. So far it was past the red rubber strip. Whats the trick???? post-696-1105671076.gif Using my regular boots I can bend my ankle pointing my toes up to shift.

I know this is such a newbie question.

I have been riding some rough trails just to get used to the thing. I can't imagine more power. I'm hanging on to the thing by the tail as it is.

Best toy I ever bought my self yes.gif thumbsup.gif

There was a great thread on breaking in new riding boots not to long ago. Use the search feature. A lot of good info.

When I got my tech 6's, I soaked them in the tub with my feet in them while reading through dirtwheels for an hour or so. This let the leather form to the shape of your foot. After that, they were to most comfy things in the world.

calf level.... all the way up........ just soak em just get them bad boys wet...... and nice and soaked, then walk around in them for a while, 30-45 min then let them dry inside, and slow.

It's a slow process but when they are done, they will be the most comfortable boot you've ever owned. Make sure that when they are dry you throw some good leather oil on them. My Tech 6's are 9 years old and still look and feel awesome.

doesnt the inside get all wet?
TRX450RACER174
Yes thats the point to make them conform to your foot.

Used the tub trick on my combat boot for the last 18 years.

Works great, trick is to let the boot DRY while you are wearing it.

If you take it off to soon and it's still wet, it won't hold it's shape as well.

I also had to move my shift lever up about three notches, to get my big 14's under it to shift.

I've looked for the thread and I can't seem to find it. I found other threads that talk about the "breaking in riding boots" thread but not the thread itself.

Any guidance would be great ! Thanks again !
