Hi, im looking at buying a 07 left over 450r then making it gncc worthy. Im planning on putting hrc kit, with pipe, jet kit, filter. Probley set of holeshot gncc's, nerf bars, flexx bars, etc.. My question is what is the best suspension out their for the R, and whats the cost? Im also wondering if you have to swop to aftermarket a-arms in getting these shocks, because if im correct most run long travel shocks? Thanks for the help

Price is a huge factor here. What is your price range?
Also, if your doing the front you really should do up the back with it.
GTT Rebuilds in the front and back with their XC linkage would be a huge difference, and not that hard on your wallet. You can use your stock swingarm and a-arms, so its less than half the price of a long travel setup.
Now, one of the best suspensions out their would be the Fox DSC Float X Evols.
Since these are a long travel shock, you need to get LT a-arms.. I run a set of Houser MGC Slicast +1s.
Now keep in mind, this setup is already pushed over $2,000 and we havent even touched the rear setup...
A cheaper route for the rear would be GTT rebuild and GTT XC linkage though. That runs around $400.

Thank you, that is just what im looking for. I will be buying a rear setup also, but i figured id buy that from the same place i get the front end.

We run a Houser MGC +.5's on the front with Elka Elite Long Travel Shocks and the full GTT rear setup with the stock shock re-done and the XC link and it works very well.
Honestly I would spend my money on the suspension and stuff that will make the quad more bullet proof like skidplates etc. before spending on engine mods. The faster you make your quad the harder it will be to ride fast for extended periods of time on a poor suspension.

forget about the pipe and jet kit for now a stock bikes engine is plenty for GNCC racing especially just starting out
when you build a XC bike your main concern IMO is comfort
do the comfortable things, theres a couple small mods you can do to make your stock engine more powerful and more comfortable like cutting the throttle return spring in the carband switching to a 04-05 throttle housing
also you should look into protection, a good bumper, ENGINE SKID, swinger skid larger rear grab bar anything that will help when you hit a tree ( it will happen) and the bumper and grab bar will help you get off of it
and yes tires are very important, GBC has a very nice line-up for tires with the X-rex and the afterburner
goodluck with your quest and there is no best setup

Depends on what you plan on running. If you run GNCC, their tracks seem to be a little bit wider and faster, so you could probably get away with 47-48" wide, but if you plan on running something like Mid-South where its super tight tracks, you probably want to stick around 46".
