I was changing oil in my son trx90. I pulled the wrong bolt out and out popped a spring and cam chain tensioner bolt. I thought I put it back together correctly, but now when I start it, it makes a rattling noise.
I called the Honda dealership they told me that there is a bolt I need to loosen then put it back together and then tighten the bolt. I did that, but it still rattles. The rattling is noticeable, but it is better, but still not running like normal.

Was wondering how to fix this.

WOW!! I did the exact same thing on my kids 90!! Ours does the rattle too....If you find out what/how to fix it, please post. Ours only rattles when we first start it I believe. Where is the the bolt they told you to loosen first?

If you flip the quad on its side there is a bolt in line with the cam chain bolt. Its under the left hand side of the casing. I was told to drain the oil and turn the quad on its side. Loosen the bolt that was on the side of case first then undo the 15mm bolt that hold the spring and cam chain bolt. I took the spring and bolt out a second time and then reinstalled it cam bolt, spring, and then tighten the bolt on the casing. Mine still rattles but sounds a lot closer to normal then before.

Just wanting to know if there is something else that needed to be done when reinstalling this?
thanks

If the weather cooperates, I think I may try this today. I'll report back with the results. Thanks man.

I though I would change the oil right before we headed for the dunes this weekend, and of course this happens. Yesterday I started it and let it run for a minute then shut it off. Like I posted earlier didn't sound as bad, hoping it will be OK for the trip. Unless there is somebody tells me differently I think I am just going to go with it. If you find anything different let me know, thanks.
