I don't like the idea of using header wrap (just personal prefrence) on my exhaust so I'm looking for a heat shield I can bolt on to save my leg. Its for an 06 trx450, has anyone found a viable after market one yet?

i've never used a heat shield on the exhausts, so i don't know what would fit.....

Thats all the hrc kit does is supply bigger hose clamps for the stock heat shield.

Before going to the header wrap, I used a carbon fiber one from E-line Accessories. It was just a universal fit. See picture below. They make them in either 6" or 8" length and both retail for $69.95. It was the best one I could find for use on different exhausts.
Anyways, I think I even have a new one in the package that never got installed on my 2nd 450r before selling it. I'd take $55 shipped for it if interested.

eko will make you anything you want....
what you do is send him your headpipe and he will weld on some nuts or tabs and then the shield will screw to that....
worth it!

that ccarbon fiber shield looks sweet as hell but isn't the head wrap cheaper tho and gives you a little more power by channeling the heat out away from the engine???

You have to rewrap it every year or so I think. I get mine ceramic coated and it does the same thing.

You can still burn your self with header wrap

Maybe if you held your leg on it and it would take a while compared to no wrap at all which would burn through pants in a heartbeat lol.

I thought the same thing but it not that big of a difference.... I blistered my leg while wearing shorts with out even touching my pipe with header wrap only... Heat shield vs. header wrap is night and day difference.
Here a copy of what Dustin did for me.... I sent my pipe to him and he welded some stand off directly to the pipe so I wouldn't have to deal with the clamps anymore... It's a pretty clean look... You could ask him about a mounting system that is similar to the OEM pipe I just wanted something a little different.

i have been curious about how effective ceramic coating would be for helping with the heat problem also. i have burned myself or pants on the head pipe more than once.
how much did the eko guard run ya wolfpack?

You could easily mount a stock head pipe sheild on one. They use that clamp system that can be attached to any pipe.
There are a ton of those things flaoting around.

It was $100 total for the guard... which included the fabrication and mounting of the stand offs to the head pipe, the CF shield, and shipping back.

I tried to make one work but the Venom turn was so much different that is kinked the OEM shield. It would've worked but looked like chit IMO.
