Full Version: 51HP and 35TQ for $250 total on Suzuki LTR450

so here it is.... the difference from bone stock .... to :

pulled airbox lid
uncorked stock exhaust
CRBM fuel curve switch
Hot Cams intake Cam
K&N air filter for stock box
Window cut in airbox

Close to +11HP and +7 TQ ...
for a total of 51.08HP and 35.01TQ....
for a total budget of about $250

at this point, this 08 LTR450 would seriously hurt the feelings of plenty of 450's that have a good amount of $$ spent on them..... if i wasn't doing R&D for Venom .... i'd be pretty darn happy with the power curves just as they are....

That same combo at KMS pulls 46 hp.

that doesn't seem quite right..... there have been machines @ KMS that have pulled 61HP with 100% my work on them..... on my dyno the same combo has hit a best of 64....

the percentages don't seem to be consistant.... 5 hp on 46 is slot more than 3hp on 61....

i don't know what changes are on the 08ltrs....but i've heard lots of people say they run better than 06~07's

Nice work, nice results and thanks for sharing.

It may not seem right, but it is. Vader's LTR made 48hp with all those mods and a custom tuned intake that Kelly made for him, without an airbox. Then it made 53 when Kelly ported the head.

That setup makes about 45 to 46 hp and 32 to 33 tq on our dyno.

Just for some comparison.

In 2008 they changed the cam profiles and reprogrammed the ECU for better performance as well as making it respond to aftermarket upgrades better than the previous years.

IMO the comparing the 2007LTR's to the 2008's is like comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks for the addition of that information Mike, I did not sell off my 450R yet so I like the sounds of that information!

same window cuts and mods to a tee?
Vader
ATP and KMS dyno's are very close from everything I've seen in the past - they are also dynojet eddie brake dyno's with the dynojet Tuning link set-up.

As far as the 06 vs 08's - the cams and ECU did change and the 08 puts out a little more than the 06 stock. I have an extra 08 ECU and tested it on my 06 LTR - there was no gain or significant curve change on my pump-gas, stock-bore, ported LTR. When you put a hotcam intake cam in an 08, you get a gain over stock intake cam, but a little less gain than you do on the 06. Bottomline, when you start building an 06/07 vs an 08 they put out similar power as you move away from stock.
