i'll post up some dyno runs soon....

but i can tell you this....without any doubt.... the suzuki easily makes the most power of any of the 450's i've tested when you do the airbox lid and exhaust buttplug uncorking.....

it started at 40 hp and 28ft lbs with dyno tires on the rollers....

pull the lid....unplug the exhaust.... put on a K&N filter and a cherry bomb EFI map switch....

and you are 47+HP and 33+ TQ

no other 450 has gotten to that point so easily.....

a set of hot cams might get it close to 50HP.... we'll know soon enough... :)

copied from another forum:

I cant wait to see your pipe and the new ways to make power you come up with. The 08ltr is a powerful machine for sure. Mine did 47whp and 34ftlbs just the other day. I took it back to stock and wanted to make sure it was still strong., and it is. Cork out lid off and cb. So right on par with your dyno. Ive tested several pipes on the 08 that make less power than the stocker. Im sure yours will do killer, it always does. LOL

Keep us posted mixxer.

very interesting comparison, Mr. Driver....!

the stock exhaust is a straight through\ glasspack style performance system..... not just a "muffler" as was common for stock performance machines....once you pull the buttplug on the stocker, you've got a well designed performance exhaust system....!

the thing i find funny is that all of the ads for the various forms of the cherry bomb style EFI map switch..... all say:

"our fuel controller\ cherry bomb.... when combined with our performance exhaust system.... will add 7HP to the LTR450"

and the TRUTH is:

" just uncork the machine and add the inexpensive cherry bomb.... and there's your 7hp right there" .... and in fact, an aftermarket exhaust system has the potential to REDUCE your power from that point...... funny how nobody seems to mention that in their ads....

and the quiet core ....as usual.... kicked the knees out from the midrange..... 5HP down from uncorked stock at 6000RPM

I found the same thing when they first came out. The Cherry bomb is worth 1-1.5 hp max.
6 was removing lid and butt plug.
Thanks for posting.
Can't wait to see how this turns out!

i hate myself for looking at this because all i want right now is a ltr thanks a lot... now i might as well start looking for a ltr considering the huge power difference you can make with it over the 450r with so much less cash...

Dont feel bad...The LTR's aren't what they're cracked up to be in my opinion. I've had two ltr's...and I'm back on a trx. The ltr's are heavy, aweful shocks, bad ergo's....I could go on and on. They are a nice lady's bike though, my wife loves hers!!! LOL

the thing about the lt-r is that it is so corked up stock ... worst power band out of any stock 450 keep an eye out for the new SAND ADDICTION magazine
Eric
LTR's are no joke. crappy front shock on the early ones... I haven't ridden the improved newer ones. But they wail with the best of em. Don't even need a new pipe to hang with cam modded and piped yfz's and cammed, piped 450R's. Just un-corked and a cherry bomb.
