I have some parts waiting to be put on when it gets warmer. They include an axle, +2 swingarm, carrier and hand guards.

i love the way your R sits that low.. how did you get it that low? with just holz xc linkage?
hondaman01
very nice, the only other person i have ever seen with the same front shocks

how do you like yours?

TRX450RACER174
Yeah i was wondering the same thing how do you guys like the conventional Fox shocks?
dagger350
I like the FOX podium both on front and back. They smooth out the ride and kept the landings on jumps manageable. BUT I have no reference other then stock shocks. I worked with Matt and gang at HOLZ racing to setup the suspension with a lot sag to it. I will let you know more when the season starts, this fall I got only a few rides on it before before season ended.
dagger350
Here's a pic when I was switching out the front end suspension this fall.

Ok, I have read the swing arm bolt stories and I myself have tried all weekend to remove bolt. No luck just an aching back. What really works? Should I go out and rent/buy a air impact hammer to remove this bolt?
The Haunted 450R
Nice front end, and you don't need an impact gun for the swingarm bolt. You just need to tap it out with a hammer while someone wiggles it back and forth with the socket on the other side. Also, moving the swinger up and down to relieve tension works good.
Vigs07R #9
nice build. so you are running xc tires for mx?
comales
Very nice on the project man. Props

wrong, sometimes that bolt gets EFFIN FROZEN to those sleeves in there that are actually the inner race to the bearings

there really is no way to get these infrozen some ppl have to cut them out and that messes things up

mine was frozen the first time i took my swinger off and it took everything to get it out i ended up screwing the nut on the end of the bolt and beating the piss outta it with a 10lb sledge hammer, FINALLY broke it loose after about 30 minutes of hitting it

you can try putting vise-grips on those sleeves, you can barely see them/get to them but they run between the swinger and the engine on the bolt and then hitting the bolt with a impact to try and unfreeze the sleeves but i will tell you this did not work for me at all

and i do suggest when you put it back in cover that thing in never-seize to keep it from happening again there is a mod you can do to make your pivot bolt greasable or you can buy a stainless steel bolt that eliminates the problem as well

either way good luck, your probably going to need it
dagger350
Thanks for the support, I will try again this week after I get some additional help to break loose the nut. Does anyone know the exact size of nut, maybe 19mm? Bolt is 17mm.
hondaman01
i think the nut side is about 21mm or so and the bolt side is 17mm i believe but im probably a little wrong
dagger350
I installed XC because these rear tires are from my 350X. Since I ride for fun in the trails and the family farm, these had the 6ply needed to handle the thorns, etc in the woods. I plan to try to race MX this year and going to stay with these tires.
The Haunted 450R
Ya I remember putting the nut on backwards and pounding it out with a regular hammer. Mine is an '05 so it was pretty stuck on but I managed to hammer it out.
dagger350
Swingarm bolt is out! Liquid Wrench is an awesome product. Got bolt out in 30 minutes with a few hits of the spray.
450Rider707
My bolt WOULD NOT come out no matter what... we had three people working at once on it, one spinning it with an impact, one putting heat on it with a torch, and the third hitting it with a hammer, it WOULD NOT come out. Mine was frozen to the sleeves and also bent to boot, you could watch the back of the motor move up and down as the bolt spun.

Mine had to be cut out with a torch.

I put in another stocker that had been molycoated, and that solved all my issues, went an entire race season without touching it again and pressure washing it, end of the season it slid out with two fingers...

$15 to have it coated...

Very nice!!!!!Can you still get those fox shox with the springs for the front and if so where?????
dagger350
I got mine from Matt at HOLZ racing last fall. Not sure if they have anymore you can check them out here http://www.holzracingproducts.com/

dagger350
I have not made it to a race this year. I dumped the bike on practice track the week before first race. Recently, I have been able to get back on the track. Hopefully more to come soon.
dagger350
I did finally get to a race on Oct 4 in Taylorville. Placed third and, to be honest, only three showed up. I really got tired in the last moto. I need to be in better shape next year.
S&H_Racing
ha that sounds like what i used to be. i remember one time only 2 quads showed up for a race so they let us race for free and we did more laps than the dirtbikes
