I'm going to look at this 400ex today..What do you think??

He emailed me and told me he'd sell it for $1,200 (the lowest he'd go)..I read the other thread on what to look for when buyng one. Right now I can't afford much more than $1,200 for a quad or else I'd buy something newer.


I asked if there's anything wrong and he said:

"it needs the rubber things that blocks the chain from hitting the swingarm, it needed a battery but i just bought a new one for it yesterday and the idle needs to be messed with cause sometimes its stalls while its sitting there idling but rides just fine..thats it besides the plastics are all scraped up and the from one is broken"

idk......the 400 market is a buyers market and as filthy as that thing is I would guess theres more to it than just minor stuff. Anyone that doesnt even care enough to clean it up for pictures in a for sale thread probably doesnt care about the machine at all....JMO. I bought a clean 03 for 1500 so theres probably better deals out there depending on where you live

thanks for the input. Yeah you do have some good points. I'm still going to check it out with a buddy today and take a look. Maybe I should wait around spring time to start looking again? That way I can save more money and get something newer (I'm also saving for a new truck).
