i have had loads of e-mail with people asking me the dimensions for this adapter to mount the stock trx450 42mm pumper to a trx400ex. here are the dimensions again..... and no i do not make this adapter for production sales.... you have to find someone to make it for you
you will also need a throttle cable from the 450

So you're saying I shouldn't just cut down an empty beer can?
Yet another piece of great info Mix. Thanks!

a little off topic, but do you think the 42 mm from a 2004 predator will have the same type of gains for a 400ex?

Sorry to hash this up, but how did you attach the adapter to the carb? I see some kind of sealant in there, but what is it? Thanks!

how did you combat the issue w/the ribs on the carb where the adapter is supposed slide over it. The adapter w/these measurements will not go over those ribs. I manually ground about 1/16 more out of the adapter and it still is not going. Did you grind the ribs off the carb where the airboot is supposed to attach? Any assistance mucho appreciated. Also attempted to use some heat on the adapter.

the ribs on the stock carb boot attachment point have to be removed completely

I have a guy who's a professional machinist and his company makes billet aluminum parts. He makes a lot of Banshee stuff as sort of a fun side to his business and I'm sure it'd be nothing for him to build these and probably wouldn't cost much. If some of you are interested, let me know and I'll talk to him about it.
Here's a pic of his machined carrier. He doesn't polish due to time issues and how much of a PITA is it....

Oh, and Mix, I'm afraid to ask what you use "this" for....

No
It's a BSR vacuum acutated carb that is a shameful waste of aluminum. Do us all a favor and recycle it so it may be used to create something useful.

I had to grind down the tube to the head but that was it. I put the airboot from the filter into some boiling water, stuck a greased up beer bottle in there and let it cool. Fits like a champ now.
Anyone have problems with their's not idling???
I've got an 04 that will only idle with the choke on. It also has a red hot start button on the front that makes me think it came off of a bike. It has a 50 pilot jet, fuel mix screw about 3 turns out.

I have put several 450r carbs on 400ex with no adapters.. They go on a little tight but I have had no issues ..

Yeah I did this to my friends. I had to use my dremel to mill out alittle of the intake boot and airfilter boot. Fits really nice and seemed to make a pretty good power improvement.

So is this adapter for sale yet? Also is there a write up on how to on this? ALso anyone selling one...? I have a 07 400ex and wondering what year would be the best to adapt to my 07?

I put an 05 450r carb on my wife's 05 400ex. It was tight but fit on there using a bigger hose clamp on the intake. The choke ended up rubbing a hole in the fuel line so no more choke. I could easily tell a difference in power.
