I don't have the cash to do long travel a-arms and shocks right now, so I'm wanting to upgrade shocks and keep standard travel. 90% of my riding is xc/trail riding and i'm soon gonna have all the motor I want for a good while, so shock upgrades seem to be pretty logical at this point.

I've looked at the GTT stuff, and it seems to be a pretty good option. My question is what lines from the other shock manufacturers exceed what GTT can do with the OEM shocks. I don't want to get into a situation where I spend more on a set of Elkas or whatever than a set of GTT's cost only to end up with an inferior product. For example, the elkas on ebay that are 500 for the fronts...are the below or above the performance level of the OEM's modified by GTT?

Basically, what product lines should I be looking at from the different manufacturers?
