went to start up the quad and pushed in the hot start cable....and it just stuck open. kinda like the cable broke. kicked it for days...finally gave up. I thought this thing was only for hot starting? the quad was colder than a penguin's ass. so .. with not much to go on...I just took her apart and now im starring at the valve with a spring...and the cable...which isnt broken. but again, i screw the hot start nut back on...and the lever is all the way out. what could be going on here? is there something inside the card that I might have broke? HELLLPPP.

That just happened to my buddy's bike. The hot start has a metal plunger looking device that goes into the carb and it was frozen open.

Try unscrewing the black plastic cap for the hot strat cable that where it goes into the carb. Then try and pull the hot start assembly out. If it doesnt come out, youve go the same problem.

We had to take the carb off, and drill out the frozen/stuck plunger. It was easy.

On our bike it is always the cable itself that ends up binding and holding it open. Does your cable move freely when you have it disconnected from the carb?

A new cable and ours feels like butter again.

Do you guys actually use the hot start? I never use use it.

My boy uses it all the time. Not sure that he really has to, but he has a system that works for him and I don't mess with that.

I use mine if Im racing and I stall it. My bike dont like to start without it when its really hot.

Could you tell me how you done this. i have the same issue on my 04 i think. I got down to the carb and unscrewed the black cap. the cable would not come out so i just pulled on it and it finally came out. but it looks as there is nothing in the whole. can you help me out it would be appreciated. thanks
