Want to get something going here. Are we gonna make plans yet for a Fury weekend?

Someone set a date and lets start getting it organized. I Think we should start a big organized drag racing event. That would be sweet. I would love to bring out a Cat D-6 And Groom the backside of comp hill and cone it all off and have a tree out there and everything. That would be awesome......

Just curious what everyone was thinking?

I'm definatly down for that, florence is my favorite place to ride any way so after the drags hit some beach and tree shots

Its usually aroung the June time frame, We need to get Jake more involved this year. That way we can get the word out and draw in a bigger crowd this year.

Were open to any ideas/events everyone may want. We have group rides and racing with trophies each year.

Would the 4th of July be better weekend, with the extra day for the org run?

I dont really like the fourth of july thing, my birthday is the 5th and seems like everyone is busy

I think we should have a weekend in june and hold massive organized drag races on the backside of comp.

I can get a D-6 and groom the badboy up. Someone has to have a tree around here.

BTW i havent seen Jake around here for a while. I think it would be fun to hold a Organized drag event, and then some flats drags. With multiple classes.

Im open to helping you guys organize and of it if you need the help.

Lets do Winchester Bay this year. You can still do some drags on the back side and its a little less risky imo. Plus you get the bigger dunes

I like that Idea plus they have huge group sights.

I like Florence, mainly because of the camping... No booze in the sand, and while I'm not a drunk I do like to set back by the fire with a drink after a day of riding.

The groomed course sounds nice too, might want to check with the USFS about a permit if you are really thining about it.

What ever you guys decide I'm in.

Any organized drag events will be a PITA. Probably best to keep it like it has been, semi organized by our group. There would need to be permits, insurance etc for a planned, organized drag race. That is just my opinion and your all free to look into it. You could always contact the guys from FSA, Sandfest, Dunefset to get an idea of how much workl would be involved in doing an organized event.

Im up for going to Winchester, but I do feel that Florence offers better all around riding.
I was just thinking about this last week. Lets get the ball rolling. Group sites in Winchester would be cool.
I would like to see it late June or even late July, simply for the better weather that we get then.

What do you guys think about opening it up to other sites, theres some good people on the Yami 450 and 700 sites?

I guess I better get my head,piston, ignition and anything else that can get my 700 a little faster.

I wasn't planning on an ORG run this year but if something goes down I'll try and show up.

My summer agenda as of right now consists of:

Florence for Mem. Day (with a day run to Winchester)
Winchester for Dunefest
Florence for Labor Day

Possibly a late fall trip (Oct.) not sure what location...

I like the ORG run and all but It seems to fall on a crappy time for me, tough to get time off from work sometimes and I really want to try and go to Dunefest with a couple guys from work this year....

Well, seems as if organized drag racing is not a great idea. Too much involved. Thanks for pointing that out speedbump.

IMO i would rather do Florence for many reasons. This is JMO but i think Florence is the place to have a group thing. Maybe even a dayshot from florence down to winchester?

I think Mid/Late june would work well. Its before the fourth and still has great weather. July and August usually seem to be packed for a lot of people.

Dont be afraid to throw some ideas out there.

Whats the prices for group camping at Winchecter, and how big is it?

We will do some org racing, its just impossible to do anything other than that. We have a pretty organized race setup. Also I would point out at Florence more people other than the org are catching on to this. So we are starting to get others to come out and play too.

I agree, it IS the Fury @ FLORENCE. Since that's where is all started...

On the other hand Winchester is a blast to dune ride and the hills are bigger, which would make great racing. Also, Half Moon bay looks like a really nice campground and is still close to the dunes with no mile long whooped road....

It might be a pain for everybody to load up and drive to Winchester for a day...might not be too bad, just thinking out loud here...

All in all I think it would be cool to have it at Winchester....

Im down with winchester bay half moon bay or sand camping is fine.

I haven't been to Florence in years. I'd rather do it there.... But either way I'm going to try to make it down for some racing!

I vote for florence, i think it offers the best riding variety, and everyone is familiar with it. That would make for killer group rides and drag racing spots.

Its JMO but i think florence has everything. Winchester is only 20 minutes from florence and would make for a sweet day shot for those who want to go.

Honeyman is a nice Campground. Maybe I'll book a site, of course I say that every year and never make it.

Honeyman is off limits in June.... Unless you want to haul your bike over to S. Jetty.

I vote Flo... doesn't matter when in June.

Honeymans is a really nice campground and has full hookups on most of the sites. But it's only open to dune access from like Oct. - April which sucks...

Frontier is the ghetto (not trying to shoot anyone's ideas down LOL)

Sand Camping is fun, and Driftwood is just tough to beat IMO. The only downfall is the whooped road but it could be worse. The sites are decent, showers and bathrooms are right there and it doesn't tend to attract idiots like some places...LOL

I've been thinking about writing the Oregon Parks and Rec office about their Honeyman policy... To me it would be better to keep the H loop open the OHV access year round and then open other loops durring the Discovery season... I don't think that one letter will do any good so maybe we can get a bunch of us together and make an impact statement...

Does anyone know what weekend Dunefest is on?

Sandfest is Going to be the week of July 4th... So I'm guessing 6/30 - 7/5

Dunefest isn't until the first week in August... Another guess 8/3 - 8/9

I am so pissed at myself, I absolutely forgot about my inlaws family reunion is that weekend and my wife is kind of responsible for part of it. Its in lincoln city so mabey I can swing something. Man im a idiot, Im am so pissed, I missed it last year because of work and said no way am I going to miss it this year. I've got to go mix me a strong one.

So, based on what has gone on before. What are the race classes.....are we gonna do prizes and such......etc...etc....

I think it would be cool to do some race classes like this- Since we dont have a ton of bikes down here, the classes will be general.

500CC and above Class unlimited
Under 500CC class (Excluding Stock Bore) unlimited
stockbore/stockstroke Class unlimited
Stockbore/Stockstroke Builders class- Rules being Bolt on only items such as exhaust, intake and cam being the limit. It would be cool to include 400s in this class too since many 400s hang with stock 450s. Also including bigbore/stroker/unlimited 400s

Race them all and then KOTH between each class winner

Apply the KISS method

Big bore

Unlimited

then winners fight it out for KOTH

I have never camped at Florence before... Is there a campsite with numbers or is it sand camping there? I'd like to stay by someone I knew.

I am sure 07lighting will cuddle you...

ahahah they have designated sites out in the sand and a day use parking are too.. what we should do is take the huge group site right before the flats can't remember the site number but last time we where there we had 4 40ft trailers and 2 other cargo trailers in the 30ft range that site is awesome

Still on for the 13th.

There are multiple places to camp.

Oddfellows is a private camp ground that you cannot get into unless your a member.

But there is Honeyman State Campground- Nice place, direct sand access only certain parts of the year. I think they close it for the winter.

Probably your best bet is honeyman.

There is Sandland Frontier- More of a tent camp place, known to some as a redneck hangout.

There is south jetty, goose pasture, and a couple other day use.

Besides that there is sand camping and such.

Honeyman only has direct sand access from oct thru april . If you stay in honeyman during the summer you have to trailer your quads to the day use. there is some nice sand camping spots on incenerator road there is like 5 spots and are pretty well secluded. Nobody ever bothers you back there.
