What do you XC'ers use to cover your filter in wet conditions? Is it as simple as putting the stock lid on and jetting?
I want to open my airbox for the power gains but the wet trails I ride will have me cleaning out the box/filter after every ride. I don't care who you are, thats a bit much.
Cutting out the stock lid would still let in too much water for my liking.
I was thinking about buying one of the Outerwears airbox covers. Though I've read on here the velcro comes off the airbox fairly easy. Also since the box is too close to the subframe it is a major pain to get the Outerwears on. Is it possible to put the stock lid over top of the Outerwears cover? That way the lid could be cut and and used to seal the Outerwears cover to the airbox. (but then the water would get trapped between the airbox lid and the Outerwears cover.....*sigh*
Help?

i seen on rokckymountainatv.com an airbox like that is like a stainless steel with basically an outerwear attached to it so you can clip it onto your air box like the stock lid but its still fully open with the outerwear and its soing a steel strip in middle to make it sturdy.... only like 89.99 i think.... i think thats what im gonna get by spring for mine...

I took my stock airbox lid and cut it at the back, heated it and bent it over....I believe that is kinda like the HRC lid....Knock on wood, I've ran it like that for 2 years now and not a water problem one....

Yes but have you ran it in heavy rain or really wet conditions?
Does anyone know if the stock lid will fit down over the Outerwears airbox lid prefilter? That way I could seal it with the lid and cut the lid to make it breathe.
Going to buy the Outerwears lid but I'd like to know beforehand.

That EHS looks really ideal. I knew there had to be something out there like that. I wonder how much it will throw off my jetting if any

Man your paranoid with this, you can get an outerwears cover that you pull over the filter kinda like a sock together with outerwears lid if you want to be safe
