right now the needles are on the third clip from the top with a 160 and 165 main jet. it has a 12:1 je piston, stg.2 hotcam, and a full hmf exhaust that i have cut to 8 inches. my problem is at higher rpm's it starts sputtering and running bad but the lower rpm's pull hard. when i drop the clip to the 4th from the top the lower rpm's start sputtering and the higher rpm's clear up and really pull hard.

should i leave the needle on the third clip and try to increase the main jets to around a 165-170 or maybe even 170-175?

thanks in advance for the help.

I have an 01 and I run 170's in both and needle clip on the third. I run a proflow intake and GYTR header and pipe.

Hope this helps some. I would bump the mains up and give'r a shot.

There is a great jetting post pinned on raptorforum.com, it helped me out. I've got a 686, 12:1 pistion, stage 1 cam, intake, exhaust, and I'm running mine on the 3rd clip, with a 160, and a 165. I'm at 2000 ft.

What does your spark plug look like?
