I am stationed down here in New Orleans, and I just bought a 04 450R and I'm looking to ride!! Can anyone give me some details on the spillway??

Does it cost anything?
Protection requirements?
Hours?

Spillways alright... they've had the good half with all the trails closed for over a year now, but other than that its a good place to go mess around, be careful cause on weekends it gets pretty packed.

its all free to ride, i belive hours are pretty much sun up to sun down, its on a sign when you drive up.
last i saw it it was underwater when the surge from ike was coming through, that was last friday... who knows it may be somewhat dry now.

AWESOME! Well....if you guys have any get togethers and ride let me know, I live on base and my neighbor just bought a 400EX...so we're both looking to ride!!

we may be making a ride down there this weekend, not sure yet though. the place we were going to go is closed for some reason...
but if we do i'll be sure n post it up. this'll be my last riding weekend in Louisiana for a while, movin to wyoming this tuesday for a year for school and the R's comin with... but there's quite a few members from down around this area who go riding there.

spillway is ok. a few years ago it was alot better. everything is all whooped out and rutted. like stated above area 2 is much better..fast wooded trails etc. but is closed for whatever reason they decided. usually the mud riders rut it up so it stays closed more than it is open. it is a free place to ride. to beat the crowds we usually hit it early in the morning and leave around noon....(less idiots). if yall want to try a lil sand they have a spot....sandhill in wiggins ms. about 1.5 hrs from new orleans. sand drags and trails sundays usually are the better day. i have a private woods track on about 100 acres but it is still unridable from the hurricanes. i started to clear trails yesterday but about half is still underwater from ike. (swamp ridges) so that is out for a while. i will probably hit the spillway soon just to go. i will let yall know if you want to come out.

Yeah spillway aint too greay anymore..Its ok every now and then..Big trip for wiggins planned this sunday.

On a serious note....that place is great. That was my first trip there, so I didnt know what to expect. One of the better places I have been, everyone is laid back and cool as hell. Looking forward to going back.

it had been a while since i had been there. i like the area they added on the other side alot more ground to cover. i am looking for paddles for the brute force (the wife likes the 450 too much). was cool to finally meet you 2 charles. we will be going back soon
