Well, its been a long time coming. And I have been lagging on creating a project thread due to the fact that I have not taken any nice pictures as of yet. But will try to do so soon and add them to this thread.

A little background on my build...

It started a year ago when I sent a head out to get ported and purchased a Venom piston. Well, from that point on I ran into a string of bad luck which included a badly broken foot and ankle that has taken me almost 9 months to recover from. During that time I was unable to work and did not have much to do but to work on my build. And that I did... I can't say how much time I have into it (did'nt keep track) but I know its hundreds of hours.

Now, some things about this build that aren't really visible. All of the aluminum that I polished on this R was sealed with Zoop Seal which should prevent any oxidation for about 2 years. I also sealed all of the powder coating with 2 coats of polymer sealant. The other thing not very visible is all of the hardware used to put it back together. 100% of the nuts and bolts are polished stainless steel. Even items such as the carb were put back together with stainless hardware.

Okay, some details on my 2005 TRX471R...

Thanks a lot Morgan... it's been one hell of a journey. I'm just glad it's over and I can ride it again. I can also focus on some other projects that I have going. This build took up so much time it's crazy when I think back at all of the work. Specially the polishing.... never again.
Cleatus
Very Nice, the cleanest I have ever seen. There is a lot of attention to detail.

ooh4.gif Excuse me while I go and clean my shorts!! lol You can tell that a whole lot of time and more time went into that bike. By far one of the nicest/cleanest I've seen to date.

You definitely have a head-turner there!!

Where did you get those plastics? Those are really sharp looking. Again, props to you for a killer job Nor*Cal
Nor*Cal
Thanks for the props guys.

redrider, I got the plastics from Troy Racing and added the silver vinyl to change things up a bit.

Yup, I dyed them.

I used VHT vinyl and plastic dye that comes in a spray can. It was just like spray painting them. However, a member gave me a tip that that RIT Dye which is used for clothing and is very cheap ($2 or so) works really well. So I tried it on the oem chain guide and it worked great. I think the RIT Dye is the better solution.

You just need to add it to a pot of water and bring it to a boil... then drop in the plastic that you want to dye and within a minute or two it changes color and looks great.

I almost wish I could brake my foot so I could tear my quad apart and rebuild it like yours! You did an awesome job. Great attention to detail, I have too short of an attention span to do work that good.
WOT450
That thing is unbelievable!! I want to put it on a rotating platform in my house!!!
IMSROLL450R
My god man.........that is by far the nicest I have ever seen. All those hours just finally paid off and it looks WELL WORTH it!!!!!!!!! I would love to have that thing, you need to buy another one and leave that one in the garage!!!!!!!!!! Good job man.

Sick ass bike and what looks like a sick as F150!!!!!!!! You should post a couple pics of that in the lounge. Are you on FordF150.net??????? I am DHFF on there. Should check it out.

Great job man you should be proud.
quadforce
Miguel Great job.. that this looks great. your attention to detail is amazing. IMO everything is very very tastefully done and I know that you are happy with the results. If you every get bored I can send you some more stuff to polish. This is one bike that I would have sitting in my garage.. it is way past worthy.. excellent build and documentation on the pics..
scrapper450r
nor cal......... awesome. mine is officially ugly now. LOL

never heard of that stuff you used to keep the polished stuff nice. thats very trick. that will really cut down on the upkeep time.

anxioux to see how she runs now. wanna see those results with the cam degreed straight up. well close to it.

with a bike that looks that good, gettin beat by you in a race is definately adding insult to injury.

sand sure is nice. i could never keep a bike that nice here in the sulfur mud of ohio. turns everything orange.
h0nda450mainiac
if you don't already have it insured GET IT!!!!
this bike made me drool, while scrolling down through the pics .....
i'll sell you my soul and house for it???
blackdrag450r
unworthy.gif did you have troubles fitting the mid pipe back into the silencer since the coating??
maryland450r
WOW! WOW! WOW! That is the most insane creation I have ever seen. I could not imagine putting the time and or money you have into that. I might just blow up one of the pictures and hang it on my wall.
fast 450r
best looking R around...good job.

eagertorace
I have seen a few quads that are too nice to ride.......this is one of them. good job!

if you hadn't broke your foot/ankle, would this build ever happened?

if it were mine, I would put it up, sit back and just look at it.

I also like that rd bowl on that carb, do they work good? I know they are a little pricey.

again, nice job on your build........IS IT FOR SALE? j/k

Thanks again to each and everyone of you for all the kind words. I know for a fact that I really enjoy seeing everyones rides no matter how many mods they have done. And I appreciate all the positive feedback on mine. Always good to hear it when you put so much hard work and pride into a project like this.

Thanks! And no, never been on the F150 forum. Actually, only forums I've ever visited are ATV sites. I'll have to pull up some pics of my F150's for you. I have a 06 and a 00.

I know I'm sounded like a broken record here but... thanks!!

I was really hoping to get her on a dyno this weekend but it just did not happen. I am now back working and am 9 months behind... lol Work will be my main focus for a while. Need to make up a lot of lost wages. But hope to hit the dyno real soon. The owner hooked up some dyno tires for me so all is good.

As for mud... not much rain in Cali but I will not be scared to get her dirty. It would be nice to have a second quad for the rough and muddy terrain but that just ain't going to happen.

Yes on the insurance but I need to raise up it's value (if they let me). Everything I own is insured by Liburty Mutual.

Chad, I was curious myself when I got the header back. But I had no problems at all. Pipe fit like a glove...

Thanks... and yes, the rebuild was already under way when I broke my foot. But, I would not have taken this build this far had I not been stuck at home for 9 months. I actually did the tear down in August of 07 and had it almost back together in early January when I got hurt. Then I tore her back apart and took the build to another level.

Too be honest... I feel I took it way too far with all the bling but it was like a fricken addiction. I could not stop myself... lol I actually blame my buddy who was building a custom chopper at the same time I was rebuilding the R. Kinda turned into a competition. I'll have to post up some pics of his chopper... it turned out pretty sick.

As for the R&D power bowl... kinda of a long story behind that one. But I basically got it for about $100... don't think I would have paid the $250 retail price. And I've only riden the quad a few times in the last 4 weeks. My foot was still a bit sore and I can not afford another set back. If I don't get back to work the quad will be the first to go... I would do whatever needed to hold onto my house as it's priority one.

I can't wait to hit the track though and really test her out. The dyno too... actually, I have not even riden it with the mx wheels or the dasa exhaust. But as soon as I get a chance to really test her out I will post up a ride report.
new2honda
WOW that is by far the cleanest, best looking R i have ever seen. you deserve those good lucks for the hundreds of hours that went into it. trust me it shows!!!
Nor*Cal
^^ thanks! ^^

I know no one has asked about the bumper but I thought I would give some info on it. After I was done, I must have went through about 6 different bumpers and did not really like any of them. So I modified the Pro Armor MX bumper to better fit in with all the polished parts.

I had a hard time finding a grill that I could polish up for it so I made my own. Talk about crazy... I personally drilled all the holes one by one and then polished and bent the grill to fit the bumper.

Here's a few pics....

Nor*Cal
Also, where's my dune buddies at? No wub.gif for my MX build? lol

Maybe if I post some pics with the paddles on I'll get a reaction out of you guys... tongue.gif

It's all good.... just screwing around with you guys. innocent.gif

Good catch.... difinately had "armor" on my mind while making the grill. And I really like how it turned out. And thanks for the graphics offer!! Your a cool dude Jason. If I do decide to make a change down the line.... Quadforce would be my choice!

The only logo I kept on the bike was the Pro Armor badges on the heel guards. Pro Armor's owner, Fred Brayton, helped me out with my powergrip system so I wanted to give his company some love. Plus.... I love their logo. He's also a very cool guy.... I actually owe him some pics for his website. Same with Jason from FourWerx.

Thanks Adam!! I was just screwing around with you, bad, and Mr. sandshots.

Also, just so you know..... the day you posted pics of your new shiney Dasa exhaust on your ride was the day I told myself I had to have one thumbup.gif It's hands down the badest looking pipe on the market. And that's not even mentioning it's performance.

I am, thanks! And that's cool of you to use my R as your desk top. Makes me blushing.gif

Once I get around to taking some nice pics with a cool background I will post up some hi-res pictures.

Also.... my desk top pic is Shotcallers drag bike. Not sure if you guys have seen it over on tech but it's the badest quad I have seen....

Wow man that thing is beautiful! Looks amazing! I wouldn't even ride that thing... EVER!
