well i recently went to rausch creek and had a blast. trails were awesome and the smaller track was intense. and the more i read, i like the hare scramblers and x/c racing. now i have a few questions, i have a 08 450er with a rossier and velocity intake with air lid on, now maybe it's me but 1st gear is very tall and i tend to stall out more than my friend with my old 416ex just cus feathering the clutch while bouncing around on rocks will loose my grip. i dont suck at riding thought haha. will going down a tooth or 2 be helpful to solve this first gear slum??? i didnt see much about it reading this section. also i already have the ogio hydration pack, ordering pro armor nerfs, foot pegs, skids and rear skids. dont really want to buy suspension right now nor stabalizer.
i want to get a hrc needle before my race and get some fine jetting done. cus my first race will be oct 19th at eagleswood for the atlantic grand prix in nj,pa,ny.
any out of the ordinary tips??? besides drink water, excersise? how are the starts in AGP?? and how long is this race?
Thanx fellas

Drop a tooth up front. On that year I think you go from a stock 13 to a 12T. Moose makes'm. That will help you with your stalling problem. Maybe turn up the idle a little bit.

I like AFAM sprockets, -1 should help though. I know it takes a while to learn but especially in xc the first thing you should invest in after you get your bike comfortable(bars, nerfs, etc) is suspension. It will make you a lot faster than a high hp motor. Check out quadzone.com and thequadbuilder.net a lot of good xc info there. This site will provide you with way more technical info than you will ever need and has plenty of people who can help you solve any problem.

thanx duke, awesome infoformation especially the websites. yes i am getting those nerf bars and crap, im actually calculating my bills to what i need for play money :) but as for suspension i know its the best mod but i do want an all around quad. i still wanna be able to hit a few nice jumps. and i hear its better to have a x/c quad and go to m/x than m/x to x/c. if that makes any sense haha.
