Just to let all of you guys know about Delo 400 15W40 ... It has come to my "desk" that the new formulation ... Meaning if it says CI-4 Plus
On the back of the bottle it has Moly now ... In the neighborhood of 100-200 ppm ... So, don't use this new formula in the trans ...

It looks as if now maybe the only 2 oils that are Dual purpose Diesel/Gas that don't have moly is Rotella ... I'll check it out ...

It's too bad too, I have 4 jugs of delo now that I can't run in my 450R trans abd Rancher case ... Oh well ... I'm stocked for the R's motor side for a long time now ... haha

I found this from another forum posted on 03-07-2005 at 09:25 AM.

We have confirmed that Chevron has recently made a change to the formulation of DELO 400 Oil to meet the new CI-4+ specification. To meet the new specification, Chevron has added 260ppm of Moly. Moly is not compatible with wet clutches.

The new formulation appears to just be making its way into distribution, our local Chevron Oil dealer still has some CI-4 oil on the shelf. DELO 400 with the CH-4 specification is also ok.

Although designed for large diesel engines, DELO 400 Oil has been a popular oil for use in motorcyle engines because of it's anti-wear properties and very good wet clutch performance. Rekluse Motor Sports has recommended DELO 400 for use with the z-Start clutch.

After speaking with Chevron Technical support, it does not appear that Chevron has a suitable replacement product.

Update: I spoke with Shell technical support, the Rotella T products that meet the CI-4+ specification do not contain any friction modifiers and should be a good choice for wet clutch use.

Thanks,

Al Youngwerth
President, Rekluse Motor Sports
