the 3-ring for longevity is utterly incorrect.....

if the rings are seeing the same amount of travel (and they are), i don't see what "reasoning" people are using to promote the longevity theory..... if anything, the 2nd compression ring of a 3-ring setp scrapes away even more lube from ever reaching the ring that sees the most heat\ pressure.....the top ring

what 3-ring setups have is better oil control...

now...longevity IS a function of ring drag & ring material\facing.....

and low tesion + nitirded rings are what you want for the longest possible life....but when they are low tension, they also benefit from the increased sealing pressure during combustion from lateral gas porting....

so, if you want a 12.25:1 3-ring, low tension, nitrided, gas port assisted piston..... you only have one choice.... and that's Venom's premium endurance racing piston...

personally i think it's cool to actually have technical facts in the answer to a technical question....but that obviously isn't the way everybody rolls.....lol.....
