The Dot Org XC Racer is almost up and going... it has been getting tested out a little but instead of just putting it on here the way it was bought and saying there it is, is NO FUN.... :D

14/37 gearing? isn't that going to be a little high for the woods?

Right now it is 14-38 (Stock) and i am going to do the 37 just to try it out with the clutch... its shouldnt be that bad....

On her Z that killerkfx has he is 14/36....

For somereason as far as racing it works kinda good..... If it doesnt work right then i might put the 13-36/37 on and run from there.... Plus when i do the engine work it might help it out as welll.... :D

cool what are tire balls I think I might need some for racing in the desert, do theu prevent flats? how do they work?

I remember reading about tire balls in a past issue of dirt wheels. I remember a couple of things from the article; they are expensive and it takes a lot of them to fit in your tire. I think that they are supposed to help prevent flats.

I Probably wont have them on the Final Project.... just really dont need them IMO (for my sake).... like i said if i was running for money then i might run them but i have nothing that is THAT at risk.....

Thanks to Ty for posting my quad. Too bad Dirt (killerkfx) couldn't be there with us. But if you look at the picture you can see what a po dunk quad stand the stock Z-440 is sitting on. What a machanic this boy is. But if you want you can leave it sitting in my garage if you would like.

Project Z400 is coming right along (but i guess this post really doesn't belong on .org but that is ok), just waiting on some bolts.....you wouldn't believe the difference in weight between the stock frame and the LRD alum its unbelievable. :excl:

UPDATE............

The Poject quad as of last night got the top end tore off and a new 11.5-1 piston put in it along with a Hot Cam Stage 2.... Just waiting on shims and by wednesday it should be up and going.....

Also has UNI filter going back in it along with the good ol' Furnace Filter air box lid.... :D

I will never understand why anyone would ever run a rekluse auto clutch on a XC quad, Makes no since to me.

because it doesn't stall under braking, on logs,ruts, hills, it is perfect for XC

if you know how to use a clutch it wont stall either, I say learn the clutch, its way better for power delivery...I dont ever stall mine and that all I do is XC

As far as power delivery goes i have to say your wrong.... the power delivery on this quad is SO MUCH STRONGER than with out....

And trust me... ask Killerkfx about this.... if you are in an XC race and you come Flying down a stright in 4th gear banging the Rev limiter and you hammer the brakes cause there is a 90 Degree turn a head of you with nothing but trees and a 30' cliff w/ brakeing bumps .... you stall yourself when you try to stop intime to not meet your maker.....

Hit a hill where you get thrown off balance going up it and it has some kickers in it and you cant grab the clutch... what do you do.... you come back down the hill on your back... on the rekluse the clutch will grab and you can monster your way up.... (watched this happen to others including myself...)

There is just some instances in a XC RACE that the clutch comes in real handy to have..... I can ride a clutch just fine but it is a safety measure..... when im just riding around in the woods I hate it because im not going fast enough to engage the clutch compleatly and it is hard to spin the quad around a turn at times.....

XC racing is the only place where i do see this product as being VERY USEFUL... cause your on the gas and then on the brakes so much in a XC Race that the clutch gets HAMMERED on....

MX it might be usefull as well but i think its home is in the XC area ......

STILL a VERY nice product....

that makes since. but the Dyno showed more power with a regular clutch then the Rekluse did. Also when I said power delivery I meant exactly what you were saying about not being able to pop the clutch to turn around for instance.....

I do see your point about stopping fast and not being able to get to the clutch fast enough. I just have not had that happen yet I guess. I have a auto KFX700, after riding it I thought I would never go back to a clutch, then I got the 450r and now I would never go back to an auto, I guess its what you like...

On a Dyno it does draw it down a little but it makes up for the power lose in rideability.....

And your right on the power delivery in that instance... you can still grab the clutch and rev it to the moon but when you pop the clutch the rekluse grabs for a second and IT DOESNT give you the explosion of power that would be nice to have....

But as far as pull goes it is VERY FAST off the line and just keeps pulling with little wheel spin...

And to make up for the Power Delivery as you where saying ... i just started riding it ALOT HARDER..... Going in to a Corner Wide open and hammering the breaks and letting the rear end come around that way instead of useing the engine to spin it around i use momentum and braking....

... All's good in the HOOD..... :D

PS... i almost forgot... it rides nothing like a 700... the 700 has the CVT so it stays in its powerband... as for the Rekluse you still have to manipulate the Tranny and engine to get the power that you want....<<< if that makes any since.... Im not sure how to word it...

yeah, I did realize that. That 700 is always in the right gear...hehe

Update #2.... Last night (sunday night) myself and RacingYFZs was trying to get the 11.5-1 Wiseco Piston in... I didnt want to put it in after we go going on it...

Soooo.... I called LAZ.... i have a GT THUNDER Kit that will be here on Thursday... 490 Cylinder and Piston...... :D ...... Wow...that took some pressure off the installation.....

Hot Cam Stage 2 is going in still which is what GTT sells with their kit.... :D

Hopefully on Thursday i will give some info on how it looks, fit and finish.... it will all go on/in on friday night...... i will try to get some pics up of the Quad torn down and being put back together by this weekend.... :D

sounds like gonna be an awesome quad. i have a set of used tireballs for sale in southern indiana if you are interested. 750 for the whole set. They are awesome. Just ask Yokley. he wouldn't have gotten 3rd without them. i just need other stuff and can't afford to have that much cash in my tires.

I know, ive seen them for sale... im a Tire Ball dealer... im not going to run them till i lose races due to the fact...... i havent won one yet but you get the point.....

know what you mean. i love them though. never have to check your air pressure or worry about flats. the same tires last all year, so you save some cash. probably ideal for A/B riders on up.

UPDATE..... The GTT 490 Kit is going in tonight.... the Hot Cam Stage 2 is going in tonight.... it will be a 3 day break in for the engine......

I gotta give a Big UP to GNCCer for helping me with the ReKluse...

Thats a sick quad. I like the color combo on the hipers and the maier hood. So, those ars-fx a-arms actually lift you quad up a little don't they? It looks way trick for woods racing. Good luck man.

To me, I don't thing it does. I think it's an allusion because of the way there built. The frame still looks level. But, what do I know!!

Yeah, looking at it it looks stock. I bet those a-arms raise it a little but there is some sag in the suspension. Those a-arms look so sick though :D

The ARMS do not raise it at all that is the point of the arms... you caught (as Rico Said) the Illusion.... they give you FAR MORE ground clearence than ANY ARM ON THE MARKET... The bend in tha arms is a Revers Gull Wing which give you the Clearence but they droped shock mount is the LT mount... they have the Same Geometry as the Argueably best ever, ROLL DESIGN but it is the design that XC Racer and Any Racer at that LUV to have.......

The Swing arm is on its way in about 2 weeks and it should do quite a bit for the LT in the rear... it gives me more travel UP than down (about 1/2" more down but about 1.5" more up... :mellow: .... HELLO AIR BOX.... :D )

yes they have their own linkage system yet ... it was first designed by Houser Racing .... Ars is just pretty much a copy that Gt Thunder Billets out for them ... Another set of Arms that are still yet to come out that will give Ars a run for their money is Lonestars.... Johnny G on exriders runs them along with brian baker.
