Are you gonna run it off the cam gear, the crank, or what?
The reason I ask is that a buddy of mine is currently in the process of putting a supercharger on his Raptor 700, and I was just curious. He's pretty much decided to run it off the crank, but haven't yet decided whether to mount the supercharger behind the head, or in front like you have and pipe it around.

Running it off he crank. We chose to run it in the front becuase were going to need some plenum (SP?) volume.

they figured that the YFZ stayed tore up all the time anyway so why not blow it up with a supercharger, and keep the trx running

Is that a lectron? What size is it? and are you running it on gas? Im curious because i want to do a turbo setup and i was going to try to suck through the carb.
power junkie
Mar 6 2008, 12:09 PM
I have a turbo on my honda and have tried a lectron in a blow through stay away they are a little bit too sloppy plus you will have to gring your own needle tapers not cool. fcr carbs work alot better
athena 530r
Mar 6 2008, 12:12 PM
so you can blow through a fcr? i was going to mount it on the intake on the turbo and suck the gas and air right through the turbo.
power junkie
Mar 6 2008, 12:18 PM
You can blow through any carb and i recommend a blow through versus a draw through all you have to do is have a boost referenced fuel system that raises fuel pressure 1to1 with boost connect the float bowl vents to the plenum and jet accordingly it works awesome.
athena 530r
Mar 6 2008, 03:00 PM
well thanks i did not know that...i would rather blow through anyways i just didnt think you could with a carb. What year is yours and what jetting are you running? on gas or meth?

garrett...why not a fuel injection system on this bike?
looking pretty sweet!
FuelCustoms
Mar 6 2008, 04:10 PM
We havent gone fuel injection yet becuase were taking baby steps. We are acutally using a stock fcr at first and going from there. Im putting this on a stock motor first and running only a small amount of boost. We want to see where our problems are going to lie then start pushing it. we would like to make a kit one day.

I see the potential to draw much dirt into the engine with your filter set-up like that.
I like it, gave me wood. Makes me think of 2 small blowers like that on a 1000cc 4 cyl. Size being the key element. A blown R1 comes to mind.
and yet its just a yami. LOL

I just aquired a 05 R6 motor TOny. RUns perfect with all the electrical. Whats something like that worth first of all? its was given to me by a freind. wrecked bike.
We can get the superchargers in diiferent sizes to fit a 1000cc bikes. We have one that came off a vmax. These things scream!

OK, so that was you. I believe you are correct though. From where we were it looked like the RE bike won but in your vid I think it's plain to see that you edged him out. So is this supercharged bike the same bike as the one in the vid or a different one?

You can find him on the atvtech forum. He makes some very nice carbon fiber parts like the swinger, stem, dasa/rage exhaust cans and I think he also makes some carbon bars.

Looks nice, but keep in mind that carbon fiber suspension parts will NOT stand up in XC MX race conditions, no matter who makes it!! Even the BMX racers are finding out how CF products like forks and wheels break!

This is the basic problem with the internet. Once something is read or seen, it is EXPECTED that the rest on the information be divulged, and generally speaking, instantly. The concept of "time to develop" means nothing.
I'm not ragging on you metal, it's just the way the World has started to view the innformation available to us. It takes a lot of time to make something like that work, not to mention the money, most of which is shoestring monies.
Give it some time.

That's exactly what I am talking about. Guys like you spoil us internet trollers. I think it's incredible that you are giving enough to do that. Personally, I wouldn't and don't do that stuff, I don't take the time to do that. I applaud you for the efforts though. Unbelieveable generosity.
