k well.. this thing died one day, so we cleaned the carb, etc. and now it fires occasanaly but wont run.. any ideas??

So are you saying it doesn't fire consistently, like you are watching the spark plug and it doesn't fire all the time?

if thats the case something is wrong with the stator/magneto?

How long has it been sitting? Did you put fresh gas in it? Check the fuel line for blockage? You said it just died one day, did it restart after it died?

Actually could be a number of things.

no it hasint ran since.. its weird, its got spark, all the fuel lines and carb is clean, we havent put freash gas in it however..

could it have jumped timing? How is the compression?

fresh gas is always a +.

well, weel go try compression testing er... timing seems like a far cry but its possible i guess..

Yes it does, but you stated it died and never ran since. Something caused it to die?

If you do a compression test first that will tell you if the valves possibly got bent. I would still look at the timing, to eliminate it. You say it's weird, well this has happened to me and it did bend my valves. So it is possible.

I would just pull the plug and turn it over and see if you can hold your finger over the spark plug hole.

k well now it idels and wont rev all the time.. what we did to make it run was put new gas in it..

lol, isn't it usually the simple stuff? Does it seem to run better when the engine is cold? The reason I ask, is the choke could be stuck.
