Hey everyone! So I'm new to the quad scene and the whole jetting idea. I've been reading so much about it and have learned alot so far. I bought my '07 450r a week ago. Well I have read alot about the RE can, so i just ordered one. I also ordered the HRC jet kit and every jet size from 155 to 195 from jets r us. All I want to know is what jet setting I will use for just the rossi can, airbox lid removed, and the "un-corking your r" mods. i live in kentucky, about 400-600 feet elevation? Also if anyone has the time could you please explain what each jet setting does and when you would either go up a jet or down a jet and what the bike will do to indicate which you will use? Ex. what are the signs your quAD makes to either indicate it is too lean or too rich? Those are really all the questions that I have, I think if i get these answered I'll be on a better foot and be able to go from there and just learn from messing with it.
Thank you all alot

if ya do the uncork the R u should be around the 162 main jet that the HRC kit comes with (same as uncorking the R)

when ya get that jets-r-us kit it comes with a few papers explaining alot on what jetting does and how to jet very good info i think

theres more knowledgable people on here then me with this jetteing stuff and im sure a few will reply

and welcome to the site!

i have a question of my own sorry, not trying to hijack your thread. but are the stock needles adjustable? im going to say no right?
hotonmyhondarr
Yeah I actually just tore my carb apart today playing with the jets and no the stock needle is not adjustable.
Anyone else have an idea of what my main jet, pilot jet and needle position shoujld be for the mods listed above? Also what does a leak jet do?

I'm pretty sure that on the Re web site they have jeting sugestions. If I were to guess... start with the HRC jetting 162 main, 55 leak, HRC needle 3rd clip, and 42 pilot. I think JE recomends a 160 main, HRC needle 4th clip, but I'm not sure (going off of memory) chech there web page.

my mods are in my sig for my RE exhaust. i think that the 180 main is a tad bit too rich for right now. welcome to the boards. where are you from in ky?

I am running the exact same mods as you and I am running a 162 main, 45 pilot, and the HRC needle on the 3rd clip. I would recommend staying with the 42 pilot that comes with the HRC kit though. I bumped up to the 45 per Rossiers recommendation and it ran real rich and would stall out and was very hard starting.

Anyways I did dyno my bike and A/F was spot on at WOT but too rich low RPM's

Hey thanks for your help. I have just one more question. It's a newb questoin I just dont' want to mess poop up. I know which jet is my main and which is my leak. I took the bowl off my carb and it appears there are two more jets there. Which one is my pilot? or is it even one of them...
thanks agian

I definately agree on sticking with the 42 pilot on the 06 and up.I went with a 45 when i completely rebuilt my motor and started with the 45 and nothing but blue flames and backfiring during start ups.Definately get and adjustable air screw and ps....make sure when you install the a/f screw u put the little rubber o-ring on the inside if the carb or ull be like everyone else losing the screw... sweatingbullets.gif Once u slide the o-ring thru the outside of the carb bowl u wanna pop the o-ring onto the need so it dont fall out and be careful with the little spring, and washer and stuff in the pilot hole when u do this...Later Bill
