It seems that within the last month or so most of the old pics are gone. I was trying to do some research tonight and the majority of pics and graphs posted by site sponsers are missing.

Really sucks to lose so much great data. Sucks for us and for John and Brian who spent so much time posting great pics and info.

We have to understand that this site has a determined amount of space....

I think these guys running this thing are doing a dam good job...

We as members have to understand it is not cheap to have this up and running ....

I am going to speak out loud and not to anyone in specific.

If anyone has issues with the usable space then I am sure the site originator will gladly accept donations to help purchase more usable space.....

Till later......

I did not say that they do not do a good job, I said it sucks to lose so much great data. And I undewrstand alot about hosting sites with large databases. It's not free and takes regular maintenance. No doubt. They do a great job and I'm a big fan of this site.

As for donations, all it would have taken is some sort of communication to the members that help was needed to avoid having to delete older files due to storage limitations. I would have done my best to help as I'm sure would many others. Including yourself. If it was even a storage (bandwidth) issue or limitation. Who knows, could have been an error or a change in databases.

Anyways, I should have given my post some more thought before I created it. Did not want to come off as bashing the org. I should have asked what happened to those files and what we could do to help if anything.

So, never to late to ask.....

Is there something we can do to help prevent the loss of files in the future?

Everything was archived onto my laptop before it was removed so that when we move to a home with more space, it can be restored.

Nope. I did lose a few really old files in the process because of a server problem when I was downloading, but I have well over 1gb of images that I saved before taking them off the site.

We'll probably move to a new server sometime in the reasonably near future (the main holdup is that it's going to take quite a bit of work to do), and when we do, I'll restore everything I have.
