NICE BIKE MAN...
You did a great job. It doesn't get much better for a project MXer, now we just need to get the XCer going, then maybe get the two together and do a all around shootout like they did in dirtwheels with bill ballances XC machine, and jeramiah (sp) jones MX machine, now that would be fun. wink.gif

I think that sounds great! The only problem with that besides Killer is really far away from me, is that he's a pro XC rider and he would probably make me look silly! blink.gif Maybe if he gave me a lap head start it would be far!!
I am going to start racing this year, but I'm sure Killer has years of racing experenice ahead of me. I would not back down though.. it's not in my nature to do so. So any time Killer, if we could find a happy meddium place to do it at, I would love to do that!! I would also get to meet a great guy!!
I'M READY WHEN YOU ARE!!

KILLER PRO XC

Right on Rico, sweet bike!!!

Nice to hear that you're rippen it up at close to 40. I'm gonna be 30 this year and I've got less than a year at full-on rippen on an ATV. Sometimes I feel discouraged that I started riding moto machines so late. I have a downhill mountain bike and snowboarding background so I'm comfy with air and speed and wipeouts, but the speeds are sooooo much faster in this sport. I only had one day on a KX250, when I bought my 450R. One hell of a learning curve, but EFFING awesome. Good to hear that I got lots of years of goood riding ahead of me, cuzz I wanna hit that 30 ft gapper.

I can't wait to see the bike that makes Rico's look old.

Hopefully it'll be mine. :D

You guys are not the only old ones here. I will be 33 next month. I have been doing casual ATV riding for 7 years off and on. Bought my first quad (1986 250R) about 7 years ago. Rode it for about 1 year and sold it and bought a Banshee (1996) and rode it for a year of so. Then I needed cash to start my own busines so I went quadless for several years. Then bought a 2004 Raptor last January....kept it for 4 months and upgraded to the LE YFZ450 last May. I am loving my YFZ alot. I have tons of junk on it. Houser, Elka, OMF, LSR, well all the stuff in my signature plus some others. I just had Crower Power port and polish my head and put in a Crower Gen1 Cam. Putting it all back together now. Anyway.....

NICE QUAD RICO.
Rico450R
Right on guy's. I started riding three wheelers when I was 17 and rode Big Red for about 12 years.( Do any of you remember Big Red) first atv for the farm. Rode the hell out of it. In 2001 I bought the 400ex and rode that for three years (Turn it into a 465 stroker) and now I've been riding the 450R for almost a year, March 13th. I love riding and I love getting air. I'll be 40 on March 23. You're never to old to ride, just make sure you excersie to keep those mucles strong. Riding is not enough when you start getting older. I plan on riding till I'm 80 and still hitting the air shots(aleast I hope so)

Ride on my brothers!! Ride on!! :D

I know what you mean about the big red! I was 12 years old when i rode those, parents where scared to death when i turned on two wheels, yet i never tiped it! Now im taking advantage of my youth (16), and learning to jump slowly. At the end of the next summer, i want to be able to do some little stunts in the air. And, that is a sweet looking ride Rico, you are my idol! Mid-life and still riding!

Ride till you die, Die when you ride!

Good looking quad Rico. I have been riding since I was 18, started with a 200X and now have the 450R. Started racing 2 years ago at 38 years old and now at 40 I plan on racing as long as possible. Only problem is now it takes atleast 2 weeks to heal up after any unexpected get off's.

Thanks guy's, you never grow old. tongue.gif
450r38, always wear gear to save the bones at impact. And always workout to keep those muscles strong. I wreck alot because I like riding full throttle through the woods and sometimes sh!t happens. Also I'm going to race this year for the first time at 40(MX) and I plan to do this aleast until I'm 50. So stay in good shape and wear gear and that will protect you!! Remember the older you are, the wiser you are. You have a chance to show you're never to old to ride!! :D

I know what you mean about safety gear. I've had many broken bones and now they are starting to heal slower as I get older. I wear just about everything you can think of. Age 16; my first break - OTB on a '72 Honda Enduro - compound to my left forearm. Rode the original Honda 90 3-wheeler; no breaks just alot of cuts and bruises. My parents wouldn't let me have anything until I was on my own. In '83, I bought a new ATC250R. Two years of racing until I broke my left tibia and fibula - had a full cast on for 9 1/2 months. '85; raced a CR250 for the next 2 years. Until these cool Quads came out. In '87 bought a new LT250R, Ice raced for 2 seasons. I thought I had mastered what I rode until '99 - I looped out on a speed bump in gas station parking lot in Bakersfield, CA. Broke my back in two places.....I wasn't wearing any safety gear....it was a long ride home back to IN. I thought I was going to give up on riding in the dirt so I road the street until I totalled out my new 2000 Honda 929RR (funny how the bike doesn't turn too well when the front wheel is off the ground) missed a turn - concushion, crushed skalpula, severe spraind ankle, punctured hole in my left leg to the bone. Bought a new '01 929 but riding didn't seem to be much fun. Went back to dirt bikes - had my share of crashes. All my riding friends went to riding quads...so here I am at 42 years with a new '04 TRX450R trying to keep my youth alive....so the story continues........

My God, That is alot of major bumps and bruies. I feel you talking about the recovery time. I am hitting 45' tables and 30 doubles and some of the bad landings are taking a tole (sp?) on my ankle. My boots suck (thor quadrants) the buckles keep coming undone at the ankle. Any suggestions besides taping it shut?

I've got a question for ya'll. Will stock 450R front shocks work on a stock 400EX front end? I plan on getting a 450R when I get home but I want to keep my old reliable 400EX and do some more minor upgrades with out breaking the bank.

Also if you read about the CRF450X it comes outta the box with a eletric starter. Have any of you tried this out? Will it work with the kicker as a back up? I think you could use a aftermarket aluminum 400EX airbox to mount the battery.

The 450R shocks are about 1/2" longer than the 400ex. So you would have to modify the frame mount on the 400ex to make the 450R shock fit! thumbsup.gif

I don't know anything about the CRF450X!:D
