A good friend of mine has a 2005 (I think thats the year) zuk 400 and wants to install a hot cams stage 1 or 2 . and would like to know if he needs to replace his springs...thanx for any info

yes, he needs to use the DRZ400 dirtbike valve springs.

that information is NOT correct!!!
hotcams, offers stg1 cams only now for the z400... .
2047-1in and 2048-1e are the cam numbers....
they are meant to work with stock valve springs....
however... if you plan to go with more mods, such as a higher RPM ignition, such as a Dyna, or something like that.... youll want to put in heavier springs... most run drze valve springs.... as they are far cheaper than the kibblewhites that are on the market.
if you just doing cams.... you can use stock springs just fine.

trust me, I have 2 z400 and you want to replace the valve springs with stock drze valve springs if you put stage 1 or stage 2 hot cams in....I did not do that even though I was told to and it trashed the valves on both machines.....this is with a stock ignition.
