This was a 450 we just did, we played with it a bit, and in the middle of it we ran it with a Venom pipe v. the customers ESR Pro pipe.
They are starting to trickle in (dynos of the pipe).
Sound is great, fit is perfect, style is better.
Thanks John for giving us a quiet power maker!

nice info cam, thanks for testing and showing.

Thanks for posting your results cam.

thanx for the comparo Kam......

ESR has always been an excellent speed shop......

nice to see the quieter Venom pipe runs against the ESR pro series....

hmmm....very very interesting thumbsup.gif

thanks for sharing kam...

Venom kicks ass!!

Nice comparison graph Kam. Im sure the doubters are still doubters no matter what you share with them. Looks like a good power increase all the way through without all the noise. Cant wait to see how it runs on my setup!

the doubters are just plain idiots through and through Gary.... they don't actually have enough of a knowledge base...or cognitive reasoning ability....to form an actual doubt about anything.....

most don't really doubt anything about me anymore.... they just have been complete idiots, argueing without fact for so long... that they can't give up their positions now....

i couldn't agree more!

lol..

thanks
hawk-trx
was this the tight bend esr or the mx bend?

nice job john cause the esr is anything but quite and i bet your pipe weighs about half what the esr's do.
mixxer
thanks hawk...

Kam just wondering, on another site you listed the ESR as the "race" series.

ESR at one time (i dont know if they still do) had the pro series and the race series, the pro is a megaphone and the race is/was not. they also have the option of head pipes. could you give us some more details on what esr was used and if it had any sort of quite core installed.
mixxer
i don't think Kam checks my sponsor section too often... you will have to catch him & invite to it...

on headpipe testing.... i have tested ESR's on several occasions ...and the tight bend head pipe makes more power across the board in all circumstances.... i think they offer the short\ long versions just to make people happy and to think they are manipulating something..... if you go ESR, always pick the tight bend....
KBR
I have not been checking too much lately...
It was the ESR Pro Series pipe.
I had to do some research and measuring to verify.
The bike is back in my shop luckily this week for a swing arm, so I was able to measure it up.
It has the megaphone core, and the tighter bend headpipe as well.
KBR
Its confusing to me which one is more bad ass, race or pro series......they both sound like the top of the line pipes I just got it mixed up.
They need to call themthe cheap and expensive versions....
This one is the expensive one
450RRR
the 'race' series is their standard muffler type...

the 'PRO' series is their more expensive, taper core muffler....(best)...

they offer them in either MX/long bend (low-mid rpm) or Std/short bend...(mid-top rpm)

I have never seen a MX bend header on an ATV yet.......like John said....the SHORT bend rules.....

me~

The pro canister comes with clamps and race version has the mounts welded on the can.
hawk-trx
thanks john and kam
the reason i asked was that i remember gary (370king) tested both esr head pipes and said the tight bend (as stated by john) is better, and esr says the pro is a couple hp better then the race.

funny how some motors like different exhausts. steve polk built two identical 450s jjks old stock bore and one of his buddys. jjks like the hmf while his friends liked the esr.

once again nice job john. are you going to make it in a bare aluim can for the polish freaks?
mixxer
right on the money hawk.....

every machine performs slightly different than the next one.... it can even happen with similarly built ones....

on the can thing... no plans for a bare one for now....polishing freaks will just have to polish a little harder for now...lol...
mixxer
bump for pinning....

Maybe I am wrong, maybe not.
But I am pretty sure that the db limit is technically 93 or 94db as regulated for all state land trails in MI. Yes the Venom pipe has got me in and probably will for a while until they actually start enforcing and testing every single person as they go to enter, which I don't ever really see happening. Their are plenty of people who run a lot louder exhausts than the Venom which is nicely rated at 96db, keeps from drawing a lot of attention to yourself, vs the guys who run super loud exhausts. The only way to guarantee you not being harassed or getting a ticket is to run a completely plugged up stock exhaust.
