Interesting for the kids, although a little boring. Let's hope they decide to build a YFZ250 sometime in the future. Maybe they had the foresight to allow a YZ250F engine to drop right in.

To bad it doesn't have an auto clutch like the Honda.

I might be alone in this, but I say NICE!
It appears to be dimensionally almost identical to the Blaster, execpt it's 2" wider. Perfect for my son who is/has outgrown his 90 but isn't near ready for a full size quad. Frankly, he'd be a rolling wreck on a 250F mid-sized quad, so I'm digging the mild little air cooled motor.

My thoughts were that the WR250F engine only does about 12hp stock & that could be further reduced with an adjustable throttle stop --- however, it has huge potential once uncorked (which almost all can be done for free) for the racer or child that progresses and can use the power.
The only sense I can see in this engine is cost.

IMO the honda will still do better. It has REVERSE. That is the main thing this bike is missing. Who wants to be hopping off of there bike and helping there kid get unstuck. IMO i would rather have reverse. Besides what 10 year old kid would even notice the power difference.

Yep, the dyno's I've seen put a *stock* WR250F at about 12 to 14hp. However, once you pull the cork, cut the wire, remove the throttle stop and it seems like a couple other things, you're suddenly in the neighborhood of 30hp with no internal engine modifications.

That's what people were saying about the 450 engines a few short years ago....

im digging the chain drive and shock upgrade, they are raising the bar. keep up or get left in the dust
maybe honda will do some upgrades next year (more than a painted frame or plastic/graphics)
just my opinion but reverse is over rated, I have it on two of my atv's and its used more unloading or putting them in the garage than out on the trails.

It seems like a lot of time they like to put a low rev limit for the reverse gear so if you're stuck, its useless anyway.

theres one of these in the local TT racing circuit its bone stock and been widened and lowered a runs very very well hopefully it will give the beefed up blaster's a run for they're money.

Any one buy one or test one out yet? I'm thinking of getting one for my daughter. The Honda and Suzuki are just too gutless and heavy. Plus it's time for her to learn the clutch.

Old thread...but my 12 year old daughter rides the orange/black SE. I highly recommend this quad for the kids.
Don't think it is overly complicated for your kids. My 7 year old son rides it. Hell, he rides my 450. This 250 is actually a hell of a starter quad. Has the adjustable speed limiter(screw) on the thumb throttle (which the kids will want out within a week to get full speed). And it is super light on the jumps.
Reverse? Who needs reverse for MX! Kidding.
Give your kids some credit. Both of mine learned how to use the clutch and how to properly shift extremely fast. Once your kid gets taking off in 1st gear down, the rest ain't no thing.
