Getting Started:

When you receive your twist throtle kit, you will receive the following: Twist Throtle and new Throtle Cable. U cannot just buy a twist throtle and hook it to you stock throtle cable. The kit is found normally in the 40-50$ range.
To install your new throtle kit you will have to do the follwing steps:

-Remove Seat

-Remove Gas Tank

-Remove side plate off the right side of the carb, remove brass screw, and it
should come off by sliding it off the carb upwards.

-Now you will have to remove your old grip on the throtle side, and make sure
your bar is clean, if not it will cause the throtle to stick.

-On the carb there is a tread with lock nut to loosen or tighten the throtle cable,
completely unscrew it from the carb, then once this has been unscrewed, the
cable should slide out from the side of this hole, follow the cable to where its held
in the carb, and you will have no problem on to seeing how it comes out. You DO
NOT have to cut your throtle cable anywhere.

-Remove the thumb throtle clamp, and slide it off the bar, you now have it
removed, just be sure to pay attention to where you cable was ran threw.

-To install the new kit, start by inserting the new cable to the throltle where you
previously removed it, then line it up in the guide, following by screwing the
mounting bolt and lock nut to the carb all the way in to create the most slack.

-Run your throtle cable threw the same path as the previous one.

-Now your twist throtle may come in once piece, or apart, if its together, remove
the 2 allen keys with the allen wrench supplied, from here fee the cable into the
opening and place it in to the twist throtle, will be easy to figure out visually.

-Now properly place your throtle back together and loosly insert the allen keys

-Now slide you new twist throtle over the bar, and tighten it, this will clamp it in
place.

-Tighten the throtle cable to i believe wat is 1/8'' to 1/4'' play, start by using the
adjuster on the carb in order to save the throtle adjutments when later needed.

-Make sure all works freely, before re-installing the gas tank and seat. ( By
Assuring when u twist the throtle is goes back freely)

-Mount New Dirt Bike Style Grips

-Now that everything is back together, Its time to start your bike up, first thing
thats should be done is turn the bars from side to side and make sure the idle
dosnt pick up, if it does, the cable is too tight.

-Now give the throtle a couple quarter turns and make sure all if working fine.

-Try Er out :D

-Also you may, after testing, adjust the angle of the tiwster, to best suit your
riding style, after doing this, turn bars side to side again, to ensure u do not
have the cable overtightened.

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly:

Good:

You can hang on better to your bars, creating a more secure feel, and when making right turns it is easier to torque it, rather then leaning and trying to reach for the thumb throtle. The throtle, reacts to smaller amouts of mouvement raver it seems to a thumb throtle, this is IMO however.

Bad:

It will take some gettin used to, but once you get used to it, its not bad. Also left turns are a little but different, but not too bad, so far these are the only disadvantages that i have seen, mainly, anything some seat time will fix.

Conclusion:

Setup was at first more complexe then i thot it had to be, but once i got into it realized it was a very simple task. It took me about 45 minutes to install this while taking my time and talking to buddies, it am happy with the kit, and recommend it if you want to get rid of your thumb throtle.

What is the cost of the whole thing? The 40-50 is just for the cable right?

Great review!

No thats for the hole setup cable and twister, grips are extra however. Twister alone is 20$ but u need the cable, so just get the kit.

Awesome! I thought these kits were much more expensive for some reason.

Just put a twister on my 450 and i love it. Anyone with bad wrists will love it too!

I just got mine put on and tried it out at the dunes last weekend.... I Loved it. Prior to this 450 all my riding has been on sportbike..... street and track, so making the switch to the thumb throttle took a little extra brain power for me. With the twister its 2nd nature. However I think its a little pricy for what you get, Basicly a $60 mod by the time you get grips. Also the twist is a 1/4 turn, but it a little long for a 1/4 turner. I personally would rather the throw was a little bit shorter.
Over all a great product... It fit up and worked perfect the 1st time. For me personally even though I think it was a little expensive It was well worth it.

We had a Raptor 700 in the shop here and we put a motion pro twist throttle kit on it and it actually didn't pull the throttle as far as it should. So he was running about 3/4 throttle when he thought it was pinned. Just somethin to look out for.
