Using a YFZ 450 filter @ $70.00 retail will work but does not fit perfect. This will work as good as a Prodesign filter and adaptor for less than half the money.

cool, what's it worth on a dyno?
JOE@Rossier
Lot of questions about this in the past few weeks.

Want to explain a little further please? I'm not sure I follow.

How much? im getting tired of f****** w/ my uni filter/cage!!!
BigGreenMachine
How big is the YFZ filter compared to an 08 TRX filter? Bigger?

I just installed the Pro Design kit and the filter is the same as stock except for the plenum and the lack of that steel cage inside the filter.

The YFZ filter is

6" long
6" wide
4.5" ID

I can sell you a R&D filter that looks just like a K&N for $60.00 shipped

A few tenths of a HP over a Pro design with a K&N filter

im still kind of confused. you use the yfz filter with the cage off the yfz then put the trx ring on there.
BigGreenMachine
Neat.

Use the ring from the TRX 450 like the first picture in the tread. Clamp on a K&N filter that is used in the PRO-Design kit for the YFZ 450. No screen or anything is used. The ring in the first pictures is used so when you clamp the filter on the rubber intake boot it does not collapse. In most cases the more surface area you have on the filter the more power you will make but not always. Thats were back to back testing comes in.
