Do you know if it changes the ignition curve or is it just a rev limit change? Just curious - thought everyone would like to know.

leviredneck59,
I believe you are the owner of a brandy new 07 correct?
I would assume this trick works on the 07, but definately wait for a confirmation from a better source before snipping wires.
I'm sure the one in Joe's pic is an 06.........
Nice Idea Joe........

Are you sure of this?
It seems on mine (could just all be in my head) that it has more power with the wire cut. I put a switch in mine and with the wire "cut" it pulls harder and I tend to get the front end up more often when I take off. I also do better in drags

anything similar that can be done to the 05? I'd like to save the 200.00 bux it would cost to get a dynatek.....

Aug 25 2006, 06:44 AM
nope there is no magic wire to snip on the 05 to increase the rev limit

Sep 24 2006, 04:09 AM
so this can be done with the 07 model also?

well I went to take a look under the hood of my 06 and found that my wire has already been cut and nicely put away deen in the CDI.
I guess my Honda dealership knows about this little trick and did it for me already!
but yes, I just wanted to maybe help conferm that this is an actual trick

What goes through this wire and such? I'm gonna try to see if I can trace the same wire on my 05 and see if I can get it to work.

More RPM's, compression, and stout cam profiles( other than drop in) will require more maintainance over stock period.

Instead of just cutting the green wire.Would it be better to put a male end and a female end on the other one.So if you wanted to put it back the way the Honda had it you could. This way you can get the best of both worlds.Us the RPM when you race and go back the way when you are trail riding. That's just my out look on it.Thanks.

Take the plug apart and pull the wire out. Then if you need to have work done or sell it you can put it back together. Theres a simalar wire on 03 Dodge rams Hemis. From now on if I buy something with a green wire I'm cutting it.

i clipped the wire on mine, then when my R got thrown off the trailer and i took it to the dealer to get it all fixed, they soldered it back together and put heat shrink on it. i got to looking and found that you can pull the wire out of the harness. i did that and i can pop it back in no problem. i was thinking of running a switch up to my bars so i could switch between the stock rev limiter and modded rev limiter, but i dont want to cut the wire again.

Go to your nearest hardware store or home depot and go to the electrical dept. and ask for heat shrink. Buy a small size that will fit over each end of the cut wire. Cut a piece about two inches long and leave about an inch sticking out beyond the wire. Take a match or lighter and run it under the heat shrink and it will instantly begin to tighten over the wire. This is just to prevent a short if the wire to touch anything when bouncing around under the hood. Do this separately for each cut end of the wire.

cut the wire in half, wire a simple 2 way switch between it. that way it's an inline switch and it's all good. i still haven't done it though
