Has anyone tried this modification? I used one on my 400ex with great results.

When I did this mod to a friends Z400, used a 400EX intake tube and K&N Filter, made a intake tube out of a radiator hose from Auto Zone two good clamps. Oh and used a trx450r throttle cable also.
