has any dynoing been done with the supertrap? how does the sound compare to the sparky? has it been db tested? it will pass as a sparky won't it? i'm trying to find the best quiet pipe and it sounds like this could be an option. thanks
JOE@Rossier
The supertrapp end cap is foresty approved spark arrestor. I dynoed it on my 06 bike and made .4 of a horsepower more that the RE sparky.

105 DB's open end cap

102 DB's with RE sparky

98 DB's with 12 disc's .4 more horsepower form mid to top

96 DB's with 10 disc's with .1 loss over power from the 48.5hp with a pipe cams and open air box

Hope this helps

Thanks Joe

it helps alot, thank you. could you talk a little more about the what the dyno graphs looked like or just post the graphs? i bet alot of people would like to hear about this. i'd like to see what the overall curve looks like compared to the open pipe. other than that, it sounds like a great setup. i'm stuck with a 96db limit at the dunes so i'm trying to find a pipe that's worth spending money on that will give me some real gains. you don't have any pics do ya? i have a hard time picturing what it would look like. thanks again

I have this setup on the way, and well i have pics from t times setup its what i plan to run at silver lake heres pic of what it will look like, from what i was told it will run a tiny tiny loss below 3000 rpm but nothing bit and then like joe mentioned the tiny loss with 96, and a tad more with 98, wich i think we could possibly get away with at silver...

heres the pics i have. i no longer have the original pic i was playing around with photoshop and i lost it.

Joe, I am VERY interested in this. I will send back my old can for a new black repacked one and would also like a sparky setup. LMK how much,

i like the look, it's different. i think if it's easy to change disk you could try to get into the dunes with 12 disk, if it doesn't pass then just pull a couple out and try again. then... if you get a tag that says you passed the db test you could stick some disk back in ph34r.gif sneaky sneaky.

Lol i have this setup on the way freeride and cant wait to test it out... ill be with it at silver lake for sure.... and i wanna meet you there so you can show me where all those crazy jumps are!

I have that same set up on the end of my CT pipe. The good thing about it is that it is USFS approved. Also the pipe is adjustable for race application as it pertains to db levels. You lose a little HP when removing discs, but it is minimal.
snowormud
does anyone have part numbers and prices for the needed
endcap and discs for this? i have a rossier and want to get
it down to 96db
Jonas
Was there an additional gain in low end power with the 12 disc setup?
Has anyone tested this setup with 14 or more discs?
Is there likely going to be any jetting changes needed with the 10 or 12 over the standard end cap?
JOE@Rossier
With the 12 disc set up a little loss in bottom end with a addition of .4 tenths of a horsepower from mid to top.

On my personal 06 TRX that is close to 14:1 in compression with 14 discs works the best.

Jetting does not change much unless you are down under 10 discs.
Jonas
Sweet, thanks for the reply. I'll try 14.
fourfiftyare
so this will give you slightly more power than open on the 04? i need a sparky for the dunes and quieter AND not loosing power would be nice, what about the sparky? will you loose any power there?
HRE
Hey Joe,

Am I understanding this correctly, the supertrapp endcap yields more power than the standard endcap at lower dbs?

If it is, I will be ordering the ST endcap/discs ASAP!

Thanks!

One more thing, do you prefer the stainless steel SuperTrapp or the Aluminum?
JOE@Rossier
The supertrapp on the 06-07 bikes does make .5 of a hp more than a Std open end cap. I did all the testing with the 12 disc supertrapp because of so many phone calls for a pipe to make power under 100 DB's. The new 04-05 pipe I am currently working on will be in the same boat. On my personal 06 bike with 14 discs still makes a couple of tenths over a Std end cap. Here a a list of mods

14:1 RE piston
493/729 web cam
mild porting

I will be adding plus one exhaust valves,, more aggressive porting ,bored carb and a 208/921 web cam. I will do testing to see if it still makes more power with the supertrapp set up on the end or not.

i've herd of this making the silencer hotter, is this true and will it discolor the pipe?
JOE@Rossier
Adding the supertrapp does make more heat in the can. Temps can go up to 1000 degrees in the can with the supertrapp but with any quiet core I just don't see any way around the heat issue. The black cans will turn gold going into the can with the supertrapp but with the standard brushed aluminum I have not seen any problems of turning color.
fourfiftyare
thanks joe! will the rossier sparky make it as hot as the supertrapp? sorry i have so many questions, just lookin for spark arrestor i can run up at silver lake, the only problem is they only alow 100 db's but i think i could pass with the sparky
JOE@Rossier

Can we just order the pipe with this end cap setup directly through you and not even get the standard end cap? That's what I'm hoping to do once the new version 04/05 pipe is in production. BTW, any updates on when you will have the new version 04/05 pipes available. I'll be ready to pick on up in about a month if they are going to be available then...

Would the jetting be about the same with the supertrap kit. I have mine on now and I can't seem to get my fuel crew setting quit right. Almost have it turned in all the way, about 1/4 turn out. Its an 06 with the rossi exhaust uni filter lid off ,a 162 main and 48 pilot. Any help would be good, smaller pilot?? BTW its about 40-50 degrees out now, is that why it has to be turned in so for, seems like it should be the opposite
fourfiftyare
found a good deal on ebay, search for "supertrapp 4"" and it should come up $40, free shipping, (hardware,endcap,8 disks) he threw in 4 extra disks for $3 a peice, so total was $52 shipped. should be here arround monday thumbup.gif

Yeah I love mine, Stock was to loud for my likeing, now just got to figure out my jetting, maybe do it the easy way and wait for Mixxer to get his dyno?? He's only a half hour away ).gif
Dober450R
In no way am I bashing here. If I remember correctly, the tolerance on a dyno is plus or minus .5 HP ........... Just the engineer in me always thinking. Rossier does make great products and I will be buying one soon.
ShiftRider450r
Got mine last week, Sounds Great now! Lets see if I can get into silver lake this weekend with it...

FastRacing77
Where did you get it from?
ShiftRider450r
My Local Dealer uses Parts Unlimited, thats where they ordered it from. I just called them up with the part numbers and they ordered it
