saw one on the 10th at sand lake in Oregon, guy had just picked it up the day before and was just breaking it in, that thing is so wide and low, got to study it for about an hour and thought it was very nice

I havn't raced one or anything. But I work at a Yamaha-Suzuki Dealership and have been able to ride one up the road and back. My Honda 450r don't have anything on this bike. And the first guy that bought one took the air box lid off, took out the restricter, and added the cherry bomb and he said it made a big difference. That is suppose to add around 7.5hp. The bike is bad no doubt. It is the perfect MX bike .... too wide for GNCC the way it comes.

I raced one presidents day weekend at Glamis, I was turning around at the top of olds and pointing down when I saw him finish the hill.

It was uncorked, but not modded yet. Doesn't mean anything till they start getting the ponies out of em.

I raced a new ltr with another new ltr and we were dead even at the end 11doh1.gif

The dealership that I work at now has a White LTR450 with the Full Yoshi Exhaust, Cherry Bomb, and air box lid off.....SUPER NICE BIKE.....has a little bit of a dead spot full throttle but other than that my 450r doesn't stand a chance. 1022.gif

I was thinking about that the other night. How can Yokley race it with it being that wide. I wonder if he got special rims to make up the difference post-696-1105671076.gif

I thought it was crazy too when I saw the pics of him. Killerquad can probably correct me on this..but I believe they get 15ft. distance either side of the "Main trail" of the GNCC tracks. Usually there are multiple lines or more are made during the race...and of those lines..I hope there are some wide enough for ol' Yokely!! I'm sure he's rubbin' a few trees along the way!! tongue.gif

I don't know either, but I was thinking the same darn thing. I never looked close enough to see, but wondered if he was running a narrower offset on all fours.

Rico, what's the typical GNCC track width.... I know are locals, holy crap, no way. I wouldn't want to be wider than 46 or 47 inches, personally. My eyes are so bad, I need all the inches I can get.... ooh4.gif

I've never ran a GNCC race personally, but I know the pro's keep the back axle the same width and they usually put .5 a-arms in the front so the front is as wide as the back. I've been told trails sometimes get so narrow that the 46" is cutting it very close. This of course is why they put the steering dampners on to stop the handlebars from jerking out of there hands when they rub against the trees blink.gif

For some reason, I thought GNCC's were a tad wider than we were, but maybe not. Heck, the whole race can be 55" wide, it only takes one spot to cause problems.

Our locals, I've rubbed on stock width a-arms, no joke, then I found a way around. You should see my hiper rings, they're just literally beat to snot. biggrin.gif God I love racing. I'm at +.5" and to keep up pace in the trees, i really need to use a set of 4/1's. Used to make me mad because at some locations, there'd be a 3/4 mile section of trees and then 7 1/4 miles of decent width fast paced and I'd spend the 7 miles trying to catch up for what I did in the really tight crap.... 11doh1.gif
Rebelrockracing#10
i drag raced a ltr450 last night on out 06 450r and i smoked it by about 6 or 7 bike links i rode it and i didn't think it had much power at all and both of these bikes are bone stock biggrin.gif

Looks like the A Arms in that Yokely picture might be narrowed...they say roll design dont they?
EDITED

Has anyone seen the list of the motorwork on the Pro LTR's?

i got my source from ATV Sport magazine, on Doug Gust's ltr450. Engine wise, stock bore, stock piston, stock comp, but does have porting by yoshimura, yoshimura cam, cherry bomb, lid removed.Like it sounds, almost stock..
speeddemon619

nathan 89
i raced a ltr450 at st. joe and we were almost dead even until i hit 5th gear and then i pulled away from him, finished about 2 quad lengths infront of him. his ltr was completely stock, same with my 450r
Ripper
I ran one last weekend at Haspin Acres, He had the Cherry Bomb and yosh exhaust. Got him by at least 3 bikes 1022.gif Although, I have to say that i ran another one earlier in june with the same mods and could only get about a bike to a half bike on him. I think that it has alot to do with the rider! That thing looked pissed though, nice and low!!! I think i might get one bleh.gif

Also, not sure if this would change anything, but after my shocks were done by GT, I launch like a mother F*&^er 1022.gif
Dunin-a-"R"
I raced my buddy's bone stock ltr450 at sand mountain, nv. and beat him by 15-20 bike lengths with my trx450r that has 13.1 piston & hot cam. Also got to ride it for about 30 minutes. It is a nice bike and could tell that it was definately corked up. Should come alive with a pipe and remapped. It reminded me of ridding a yfz without being hunched over as much and a tammer powerband. Handling was good but when drag racing up the hill at times the frontend had a weird shutter, like it was tapping side to side in the frontend - like the rebound in the front shocks wasn't fast enough.

Not suprising...You have to set them up right to get them to be worth anything in the sand(gearing and tire), and unfortunately seems like most people who own them havent figured that out... YFZ's and TRX's are geared much better stock for the sand...

looking at that and the arms and the relationship with the fenders, that has been narrowed.... those arms look like they have been replaced....I doubt if they would have just painted and stickered the lower arms... plus the picture i added below has nobody sitting on it...jmo
homdaddy
look at the top of the white ones shocks they have some form of
lowering bracket the yellow one is all stock

Haven't raced one I could call a win. I started up Old's with one, then he stopped I think and turned around, I finished the woops with him, but that was it. Dunno

Anyway, the place I had dyno my bike also dynoed an LTR450. It had the full Yosh and cherry bomb. Made 43hp, that's all I know. I don't know if it was lidless though.

The thing ran lean the whole powerband. I think I remember seeing 14 or 14.5 and he complained about his header glowing. hehe
SLIDING
Raced a couple of them at a gravel hill climb a few weeks back. Beat both of them. But they were quick for just a few modifications from standard(Cheery bomb airbox lid and uncorked).

I Finished 3rd in the Atv class. 5th overall and was the first TRX home (dam yamahas). It was an 8km hill. 18 Quads,12 two wheelers and 25 rally cars. The old TRX was only beaten by two evo 7s and the two yamahas. the LTR came 6th = with a very hot Kawasaki. My friend on his trx 480 the same as mine came 7th.

Wasnt a bad day out with lots of 5th gear flat out sections. smile.gif
